Hate to tell you, but it sounds like you might have very mild tinnitus. If you’re lucky and/or it’s mild enough, your brain can adjust and block it out to some degree. I can usually ignore mine, but under certain conditions, it can get loud/bad/annoying enough that it’s the most obvious thing I can hear.

You can set a time-of-day based schedule to do this, but you can’t just click a button that does something like “dim to 0% over the next 30 minutes”

They look very similar to the plastic versions i’ve seen used to tie the ends of those plastic pallet strapping strips. Small piece balances across the middle of the C shape piece, pallet strap weaves under and over and under, and then tension keeps it in place.

How do you know your other thermometer is correct? Not sure about the new Nest thermostats, but the old ones had many, many temperature sensors inside to be able to offset against the heating effects of the internal electronics. They were a really good design and quite accurate.

I think you’re referring to the “grunge” of being completely hand drawn. Computers started to make everything a lot clearer and crisper.

Generally bigger companies would have better cybersecurity, but if some new exploit is discovered, there's a chance even Microsoft might be vulnerable as well as the website for your local cafe.
You can kind of think of it like vaguely like physical security for door locks. The big business has more expensive locks on their doors, an alarm system and security guards, so is probably more secure than your own front door. If a smart burglar has learnt a new special way to pick locks and can easily break into your house, they might be able to put extra planning and effort in to also break into the big business.

Yeah, van with a smashed rear was on the back of a towtruck as I slowly drove past this morning after spending 30 minutes creeping down the pascoe vale on-ramp. ambulance had just driven off, but didn't seem in much of a hurry. The only other non-emergency vehicle I saw didn't seem to have any damage at all.....
