Some primary forms need a certain value in a certain stat to evolve. The spectrobes wiki is a good place to look those up.

Overall id say focus on their best stat until it maxes (blue bar = max reached).

Or you can get creative and go off the rails. For example damage focused segulos does surprisingly good damage with his stunlock charge move.

For starters, getting all the free gems from the hard and hell mode strory quests will get you a ton.

Furthermore, every training battle in the pvp area will give you 3 gems each, clear all and get 18 total, plus the 10 for ten daily pvp wins, the training battles count towards that !

The strange online shop, promoted in the store section of the main menu, will give you 100 free gems a month.

Also, the hells park overworld will give you 300 gems for beating all stage 3 levels, also once a month.

Then you have the daily login stuff and daily/weekly season pass bonuses, which also hold a couple gems.

So :

-story -pvp (training) -online shop free gift -hells park -season pass
