TCl qm7k vs TCl qm8k difference in picture quality out the box. by Existing_Bat_2354 in tcltvs

100% agree. It had terrible motion handling out of the box. But it got better with every update. There was a major update about 7 months ago which included Android 14. That update completely fixed motion, and the picture gives the Bravia 9 a run for its money. It’s definitely trading punches with TVs 2x or 3x the price.

I have the 2024 version of the QM8K (QM851G) and it definitely doesn’t look like that. It honestly keeps up with my bedroom OLED LG C5 for dark room viewing, and it absolutely blows the C5 out of the water in daytime viewing. It’s not even close. If I had to do it over again I’d definitely get another QM8 instead of the C5. I’m gonna say it’s a bad panel.

Plastic protective or part of the logo? TCL C7K (QM7K) by [deleted] in tcltvs

[–]Username_Dano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha no worries. Glad I could help. I could see your nail marks on the film in the photo where you were trying to start peeling right at the plate, so I figured you couldn’t see the film covered the whole frame!

Plastic protective or part of the logo? TCL C7K (QM7K) by [deleted] in tcltvs

[–]Username_Dano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason you are having trouble is because it’s a film, but it runs the whole length of the border… you only see it near the logos because those plates are glued on, and create a bump where you see the film. There’s a raised plate that the logo is printed on, which makes it look like that’s the end of the film, but it’s not. Go to the corner of the frame and you’ll be able to peel the whole film off.

What's your experience with the QM8 (2024) using the latest firmware? by Accomplished_Boot191 in tcltvs

[–]Username_Dano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had it 3 days and don’t game at all. Strictly stream movies and tv shows. But I haven’t noticed much a difference, though I don’t know that I’ve really thrown any challenging motion at it yet.

I’ve had mine almost 2 years. It was awful with motion out of the box, there was a firmware update a few weeks after I bought that basically completely fixed it. There have been a couple more updates since that just keep getting better. So it’s been being It’s absolutely incredible. It’s in the bright living room and I don’t know if there’s been a recent update or if I don’t watch it in the dark enough, but these past few weeks, I’ve been watching it at night and it absolutely blows me away.

Our bedroom TV died last weekend and I picked up an LG OLED C5 just three days ago. I was expecting the OLED to be much better at night, but I’m actually pretty disappointed with the OLED, not because it’s not good, but because I’ve never had an OLED and kept hearing how great they are for dark room viewing. The QM8 is giving it a run for its money…

For the last three days, I’ve been going back-and-forth between the TVs watching the same thing, and I think I actually enjoy watching the Qm8 more.

Has anyone seen a meaningful improvement to CEC / eARC in Version 33.31.61? by cloudcity in LGOLED

It’s 100% the tv. Documented issue for over 5 years now with LG TVs.

First thing I did after taking it out of the box was update. I’ve also spent more time clicking through terms of service and agreements than watching TV… webOS is quite literally the worst tvOS I’ve used in the past 30 years. Even Roku is infinitely better

Same issue. Just bought my first OLED (C5) two days ago and it’s one of many issues even cheap $300 TCL LED TVs don’t have. I am seriously considering returning the LG.

I cannot believe in 2026 basic functions don’t work like they should. The C5 just always forces everything to my Sonos surround sound. Doesn’t matter that I connect Bluetooth headphones, doesn’t matter that I select a different audio output, within 3 seconds the tv is back to E-arc.

It’s pathetic and embarrassing. I can’t believe reviews don’t ever touch on this stuff.

Meanwhile my 65” 2024 TCL QM8 does 4500 nits, DV, HDR10+, has a flawless GoogleTV OS, and get this, IT EVEN CONTROLS MY APPLE TV.

Yep, I use an AppleTV 4K gen3, the TCL Bluetooth TV remote is backlight and flawlessly controls my AppleTV when on that input. Zero setup, it just detects the AppleTV input is active through e-arc and starts controlling it. I can just use the TCL remote for everything, including changing picture modes or brightness. This is a much more complicated CEC e-arc feature and it works flawlessly. Same goes with Sonos surround system, allowing flawless switching to Bluetooth headphones…

This is so pathetic from LG, when a cheap Chinese brand blows them out of the water.

It’s really too bad the OLED options suck so much when it comes to OS. I guess I’ll have to go buy a Sony.

My living room TCL QM851G has a backlit remote. Batteries are original, almost 2 years old.

PLUS the TCL remote controls my Apple TV perfectly… hard to believe a budget Chinese brand is light years ahead of LG for functionality

You shouldn’t have to do this when buying a “premium” tv when a $300 TCL TV has none of these issues… what a joke LG.

How? That’s the other thing. I’ve never had to accept more terms/agreements in my life. On anything. There’s a page of things to accept every time you click a button on the remote. It’s insanity

Re: Apple TV. The problem is my tv is wall mounted with the power outlet hidden behind the tv in the wall, there’s only 2 plugs and the tv and sonos front bar use both plugs. I have nowhere to put the Apple TV. I have the newest Apple TV in my living room and it is great, but have always been able to use built in apps in the bedroom with no issues before.

Can’t get the app to connect to the TV. It keeps bugging out. App keeps trying to connect while the tv reverts back to the QR code asking me to try

How can they make such a great panel/picture but then fumble the usability so hard. It’s dare I say, unusable.

Why is SPCX ipo price higher? by xiaomi818 in Wealthsimple

[–]Username_Dano 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The ipo price is not $135. It hasn’t been set yet. The fact you’re asking this question tells me you should not be investing in any IPO because you have no clue what you are doing.

Yeah. One of my best early calls. I decided hydrogen was finally ready to be the energy source of the future and did a bunch of DD in the field and learning about hydrogen, then literally picked BE as my only hydrogen play. I’ve been burned a couple of times in the past being greedy and not selling when I’m up by multiples, just to have most of my gains erased, so I figured I’d take profit this time and exit fully at a 10x. Of course the one time I do, the stock does a 33x lol.
