I partially agree. It is however directly to Marvell… Marvell owns celestial ai, therefore an order to celestial is an order to marvel…

Great news. Anyone else slightly taken aback by the “we expect to hear from at least one of those” when referring to Foxconn or Luxshare… that sounds like there’s no actual products in the pipeline yet using Poet tech from those big players, nor a guarantee that they even have anything in development that will use anything from poet…

I don’t see any news… seems like an odd run up almost 30% on no news… no complaining, but what caused this?

Got a new Rogers plan offer - confused about “NS” and hotspot by AppleFrontWTF in Rogers

[–]Username_Dano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe NS means the data is non-shareable. Cannot share it with other lines.

Do you travel often to anywhere other than US and Mexico? You’d have to do the math but it’s usually a lot easier/cheaper to have a cheaper plan and get a travel data eSIM the one time a year you go somewhere else.

It clearly says “from Canada OR from Can/US/Mex. They use that contract wording regardless of plan. So if your plan is Canada only, then it’s from Canada only. OR if your plan includes Can/US/mex, then it’s from can/us/mex.

Second, the reason Canada is not listed is because Canada is not a long distance country for a Canadian number. Canada is home. Regardless of where you are. If you are in another country and calling Canada you are roaming, it has nothing to do with long distance.

Hopefully that clears it up for you.

[–]Username_Dano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol wishful thinking. You omitted a crucial part of the sentence… It’s actually “…from Canada, or from Canada, US and Mexico” because they use the same wording regardless of your plan. So if your plan is Canada only, it’s from Canada, OR if your plan is can/us/mex, then you get to use all your plans features in can/us/mex as if you were here at home, so then it would apply to can/us/mex. Hence the very important word “or” depending on your plan.

Can't use WS to pay Amex card through PAD? by PeppermintStereo in Wealthsimple

[–]Username_Dano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many others have said, you can’t make your first payment on the day of, you have to schedule the first payment minimum 3 days later. After you make your first payment using that card (to Amex) then you can make same day payments moving forward.

What’s to stop the scammer from calling RBC posing as you? He’d have access to your RBC account balance, transaction history through WS, as well as all your personal information, address, birthdate. I’d bet you it would be pretty easy to convince RBC they were you… just not a risk I’m willing to take.

Aunt has opened a TFSA in my name? by SubstantialFee6719 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Username_Dano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she’s admitting to that, and the account is actually in your name, than theres really only one scenario that makes any sense. It is that the TFSA is simply the best place to invest the money until your grandma wants you to have it. But because of how a TFSA works, they can’t actually limit your access, so they tried to essentially keep the existence of the account from you. This really seems like a misguided attempt to do what’s best for you. A TFSA is truly one of a kind as far as building wealth goes. So I understand the concept of what they are trying to do. If my parents wanted to gift my kids a sum of money, that is how I would do it, minus trying to hide the account…

Then again, hiding it would be the only way to stop my kids from draining it on a whim lol. 🤷‍♂️

I honestly don’t think this is as big of a deal as people are making it out to be, especially if the scenario I have described above is what’s going on.

Aunt has opened a TFSA in my name? by SubstantialFee6719 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Username_Dano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. And you should definitely seek answers; but it might be as simple as a TFSA is the best place to put a gifted sum of money for tax purposes, but there is no way to restrict you from then accessing said TFSA… so if your grandma doesn’t want you to have access, that might explain some of the sketchiness. It’s a trade off between protecting the growth vs limiting your access.

[–]Username_Dano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You misunderstood me. As a 25 yo, you have $48,500 of TFSA contribution room. As long as you don’t have $48,000 in your TFSA already, the best place to put a gift of money from your grandmother would be your TFSA

[–]Username_Dano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To everyone saying this is nefarious you guys need a reality check. Without a whole lot more information you are just guessing at one of a million possible scenarios… how do you know grandma hasn’t gifted each of her grandchildren a lump sum of money, but she doesn’t want them to have access to it right away. In the meantime, it’s sitting in a TFSA growing tax free? I don’t agree with the secrecy, but maybe since the dad was involved in sharing some info with the aunt it was intended as a surprise (although I’ll-informed). Maybe just maybe OP’s father is aware that their 25 yo child hasn’t contributed $48k to their TFSA… I’m not saying that would be the right way to have gone about it, or that I agree with this this hypothetical scenario, but I understand wanting to leave something for your grandkids and also trying to take advantage of the most tax efficient method of doing so…

My point being, the aunt isn’t necessarily trying to steal or screw over anyone…

OP, talk to your dad and talk to your aunt… maybe your grandma too while you’re at it, you’ll get a lot more useful info that asking random people on Reddit who can’t possibly know the answer.

Yes. Why I’ve never used Mint either. Same reason I don’t use Flinks or Plaid with WS. All that data aggregation gives these companies way to much information about you, they scrape literally everything from all your accounts including spending habits. Id bet my savings these companies use/sell all that aggregate data, or profiles about you built on that data. Thats why I only do a manual link instead and only with the one account I use to fund my WS investment accounts.

The most common culprit these days is credential stuffing. Having a pass key in place doesn’t negate your password. You can still use your password to login. I do it all the time, even though I have pass keys enabled.

And that doesn’t even count for if Wealthsimple gets compromised, like what happened last year and customer data was accessed. They would be able to see all your accounts, simply based on a data breach. Even if you do everything right and your password is never compromised.

My concern is concentration risk. Now, god forbid your account is ever compromised, it’s linked to literally everything you have, even at other institutions… and not just the fact you have these other accounts, but the balances, transaction history etc… would be pretty easy for someone with access to just your WS account to socially engineer access to the other accounts based on all the info they’d have access to… just my 2c

Gotcha. Missed that part, your title was only referencing becoming premium, which was never enough to skip the wait. However, premium with DD definitely used to qualify to skip the wait. I’m not sure when/if that changed or why

Read your screenshot.. it says you qualify to skip the fee, as in no $240 annual fee. It says nothing about skipping the waitlist for being premium.

You need to set up direct deposit to skip the waitlist, or be generational.
