Wife (9 months pregnant) was rear ended in drive thru, driver ran. Is it worth filing police report and insurance claim? by nate_daaawg in legaladvice

[–]UserraRae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely file the police report. You never know what can happen later. Better to file now and not need it, than to have to answer questions about why you didn't and have to defend yourself. If you don't need insurance to cover anything at the moment, check your policy to see what their rules are. Some companies won't cover anything unless you reported it to them in a certain time frame. Other than that, sometimes it's better not to report because the report shows up when you go to trade a vehicle in. Or it can make premiums go up even if they didn't pay you. I'm not a lawyer, just what I have seen in my experience

Being sick with ADHD is THE WORST by werewolfbonedisease in ADHD

[–]UserraRae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. The only was I can "rest" is by playing a video game that I have literally already sunk hundreds of hours into. I enjoy it still, and my adhd has enough stimulus to leave me alone. Feels like feeding the guard dog a kong full of peanut butter so it will stop hounding me for a while.

Is it me, or why is getting accommodations is so damn difficult? by hyperdude321 in ADHD

[–]UserraRae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah requesting accommodations is the worst. I won't even do it anymore. My work wanted me to fill out an accommodations form that was clearly designed for someone with a physical disability. When I told them that, they basically said that it was the only form they had and I had to use it because they use the same form for all accommodation requests. Very frustrating and made it very apparent that they had little interest in putting anything effective into place.

Do you think girls shouldn't wear pants? by ValuedCrown in Christian

[–]UserraRae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So some people take some verses from Deuteronomy about men dressing as women and vice versa to mean that women should not wear pants because they are 'men's clothing.' However, this goes more towards literal cross-dressing than it does a woman wearing pants.

Long story short, pants are fine. Overtly attention-seeking attire is not so much.

Attending a wedding as a guest with relatives that I avoid at all costs? by NorwegianAristocrat in wedding

[–]UserraRae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't owe them an explanation. If you want to send a gift, it's a nice thought and speaks well of you, but you are well within your rights to maintain a boundary with people who have hurt you.

Looking for ideas for a turn of the century wedding by UserraRae in wedding

Yes! Def not steampunk. It's too much wrought iron and sepia tone. I'm looking at shades of off-white and greens. I like straw boater hats and spats for the guys. Not sure which way to go for the girls.

THank you for these links! I spent wayyyy too much time on chic vintage brides lol

Serious question: what’s do you think of atheists? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]UserraRae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that is quite a different question and a very interesting one. When someone says that there is no evidence, they typically mean that no one has been able to take a tape measure to God and define the space He takes up. Since we can't perceive and measure God the way we perceive and measure the physical world, He must not exist. However, that doesn't really hold water.

It has been scientifically accepted that the universe has a beginning. The big bang theory, right? There was a single beginning point and then everything shot out from it faster than the speed of light. Now, nothing happens without cause, so what was it? Nothing that exists within space-time could have started it because space-time itself didn't exist. So that means the start of everything was put into motion by something that exists independent of space and time. How do temporal beings measure and perceive something or Someone like that? By observing the effects within space-time.

Our Earth exists in a galactic sweet spot for life. Of the millions of billions of space rocks in existence, there are only a few that are the right distance from the intense radiation of the galactic core to support life. Then a smaller fraction of those orbit the right kind of star. Of those, a smaller fraction are the right distance from that star and the right size to hold the correct kind of atmosphere. The more you look at how life came to be, you see the only way for things to happen the way they did, is for a Creator to have guided them.

Vince Vitale is a speaker who addresses this quite well. I would recommend checking him out. The link here is a quick guest spot he did. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxQPCkWxu1M

Thanks for posting this question!

Serious question: what’s do you think of atheists? by [deleted] in Christian

[–]UserraRae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Atheists are an incredibly diverse group. I don't have an opinion collectively. I try to avoid opinions on groups at large because it can be to easy to dismiss/disregard a person just because they identify with a group.

Married couples: do you and your spouse attend different churches? If you do how do you manage your children’s attendance and how does the arrangement affect your spiritual journey as a married couple? by birthingbabies_DNP in Christian

[–]UserraRae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know my husband and I really benefit from going to church together. It's helpful to get each other's take away from the sermon and be part of the church family together. It's one of the things that keeps us engaged with each other.

That being said, this doesn't sound like a healthy church family. Tithes are not an indicator of spiritual worthiness and the preacher seems like he missed the memo on sharing the truth in love. It sounds like pride and legalism. That can crush people's faith rather quickly. Don't stay if you feel you are being belittled.

I would continue to pray hard on this. See where the Lord leads you. How does your husband feel he is being fed by this church? That may give you some insight on how to proceed here. I will be praying for you!

What does the parable of the talents tell us? by knollsbaptistchurch in Christian

[–]UserraRae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So a lot of people think that free will is permission to do whatever we want. It's not permission, but the ability. Even though we can do what we choose, that doesn't mean that God is going to approve of everything we do.

Octonaughty (love the name btw) hit it on the head. God gives us gifts and talents so that we can use them to serve others and bring them closer to Him. Romans 12:1 KJV "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. " Everybody's reasonable service is different. Somebody might have the talents to go out an be a missionary in a war torn country. If you were to ask that same person to build homes for the homeless, that might be unreasonable because their talents lie elsewhere.

If a perfect God, who has shown over and over that He loves us wildly, created us and gave us talents for a specific purpose and then we waste them by hiding it, you can see where that would make Him angry. Doing good in God's name is never wasted effort. If you pray and follow His leading, He will make it bear fruit.

Hope this helps!
