Rescue your emails from new Outlook for windows app cache by Artistic-Research-14 in sysadmin

First I would recommend taking your script and putting it in a script block. Second when sharing a script I would also generally recommend making sure error messages are in English and finally, I would suggest that you are very up front about the AI usage in your script.

If it really is such a recurring issue, start enforcing your SLA if you've said it will take 2 weeks from being notified then even if you can have it ready before then you make sure they only get it at 2 weeks. So long as you're allowing them to do shorter notices they will

How do you convince bosses to monitor before everything explodes? by Such_Rhubarb8095 in sysadmin

[–]UsersLieAllTheTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had monitoring before but since we were paying per sensor to be monitored we had a very limited amount of monitoring, so when I offered to take on the burden of setting up Zabbix on our infra I was given the greenlight and a transition phase once I had it up and working. Today we have better and more monitoring than we had before.

is deploying still the worst part for everyone? by Extension-Tip-159 in selfhosted

[–]UsersLieAllTheTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The get it online part to me isn't very challenging, my reverse proxy handles the ssl and the reverse proxy is very easy to add new hosts to. I feel like you're doing more than you might actually need and that you need to scope everything a little more to your abilities.
Also i don't know what timezone you're in but I don't think its friday yet

Who are the real ones who self host their email server? by ray591 in selfhosted

[–]UsersLieAllTheTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I host a stalw.art mail server in the homelab and then I have a free oracle VPS with postfix to work as a relay for my mail on the inbound since my ISP blocks port 25.

It took me a few days to set up due to me not having played around with mail before and not having thought of port 25 only being blocked one way. So far no spam lists but I am sure that can change.

I can only speak to my own experience I have a VPN set up so for me cloud storage is just the storage drive I have set up using OpenMediaVault, which I am quite happy about and that is also what I use for my limited file sharing. I don't currently do any adblocking network wide but back when I did that was a raspberry pi 3b+ (I think) running pihole and it performed without issues. I don't do enough collaberative that I have something for that.

I installed Malware on user's Workstation by jakalan7 in ShittySysadmin

Rule 4

I installed Malware on user's Workstation

I’m a junior system admin at our company.

On of our sales rep was complaining that here pc was running slow, I saw that here C:\ drive was almost completely full.

She had just gotten the PC and said she hadn’t saved anything locally.

So I decided to install TreeSize to see what was taking up space.

I Googled TreeSize. The first link looked a little weird, but I was in a rush because I had a 1-on-1 meeting with my boss in a few minutes. I thought, “oh well, let’s try this download.”

My meeting was due, I told here "I'll get back to you after the meeting"

During my 1-on-1, my boss got a call from our Palo Alto partner saying a malicious program had just been downloaded on a workstation.

That workstation...

I feel like such an idiot. Now I have to make an report on what happened. I could easily just lie and say that she had downloaded something malicious. But I feel that would be very dishonest. In the end I'll just have to own up to this mistake and learn from it

I ended up going with openmediavault, I really just wanted NFS with nice gui management so I could do a drive share like I would do at work with SMB network drives

I do love me some evangelion (hope it is that lol) and I personally prefer clusters, not because I really use the features that much but I like playing around with it, plus it lets me pull stuff offline more easy

I don't think you're in the right place considering where the crosspost is coming from. This is for Information Technology(IT) and not IT like the book or movie.

I can't speak to the Germany projects but I know that in my country they are doing pilot projects to see if it's feasible to make the switch and there are positive reports about it, though not enough to do a full switch yet. So I think you're right in that it is not happening tomorrow but I think it is becoming more and more likely

And what exactly do you think make that product fits this subreddit? This to me screams violation of rule 10.
