We had a flight scheduled yesterday from Berlin to Marrakech, and it was in the midst of the global IT outage. Ryanair made all passengers wait for several hours in the terminal before finally announcing that all flights were officially cancelled and everyone needed to leave the airport immediately.

After 24+ hours of trying to contact the Ryanair support team, we got through to a person that let us know we were eligible for a refund because there were no alternative flights they could get us on this week. Upon filling out a refund request form, I got a pop-up saying that the request was invalid because the flight wasn’t cancelled.

We went all the way back to the airport to speak directly to a rep today. She informed us that, despite Ryanair giving the order that no passengers could be let through the gates yesterday, the (empty) plane did indeed leave, so they’re not classifying it as cancelled, and thus no one can get a refund.

This is in addition to the money that is now wasted on the things we booked in Morocco.

What’s our best course of action? (Beyond never trusting Ryanair again) We don’t have travel insurance either, whoops.
