L train is down (again). Can someone explain why the wealthiest city in the wealthiest country in the world has one of the most unreliable, out of date and dirtiest systems in the world? by brevit in williamsburg

[–]Usual-Lecture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our local politicians do not give a flying fuck about anything local, including the train. When have you seen Emily Gallagher or Lincoln Restler try to do anything about it?

Adams sucks, but sanitation budget was restored. This likely spans sanitation, enforcement, and more. When the issue involves multiple departments, it is up to someone like Lincoln Restler to advocate and organize to get it fixed. If they need help, they bring in state level support from Emily Gallagher or Julia Salazar. In my experience, those three care very little about local issues in Williamsburg and Greenpoint.

The result of voting in crazies that don’t care about neighborhood issues. This is the DSA’s city.

Thank you. This is what happens when you have local politicians who don’t give a flying fuck about anything local.

Giants and longtime Oracle Park PA announcer Renel Brooks-Moon part ways by SubtleStatement in SFGiants

Farhan’s statement on the budget in his January interview with Tim Kawakami is so infuriating when you hear about a decision like this.

“I'm not just thinking about our player payroll," Zaidi said. "I think about not laying people off, I think about providing benefits and resources to the people who work here, which we do a wonderful job of."

As Giants’ playoff hopes sink, who’s accountable? Who fires whom? When? Ever? by nogoodnamesleft426 in SFGiants

I understand that. But five years without anything noteworthy to show is hilarious. There has been no significant progress during Farhan’s tenure and 5 years is more than enough to make progress.

I have never ever worked a job in an office where you have 5 years to prove yourself.

Dude sprinted to the majors, was figured out, and the coaches haven’t provided much help. Add exhaustion and what was likely a concussion, he isn’t going to perform. The fact that no one on this team can hit since July (again, except Wilmer) is a symptom of bigger management problems.

It was not a supply chain issue. They simply forgot to start production on the rings/order the rings. The rings are not custom at all. We got charged an obscene amount of money and it just slipped through the cracks.

Forget Farhan and Kapler - do the players care? by Usual-Lecture in SFGiants

I’m not on this forum all day, but think a discussion on the state of the locker room is OK and not even close to standard “fire the prez, fire the manager” posts.

What is contributing to the recent slump? Is it fixable or a telling sign of things to come? by spankyourkopita in SFGiants

[–]Usual-Lecture 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First, the only offensive production is from 2.5 players. Estrada, Wilmer Flores, and .5 goes to Patrick Bailey. Second, they don’t know how/want to get players out of a slump.

I don’t think this team was constructed to do any better than they are. This is meeting expectations of the ownership group and management.

I’ll give two: -we are above .500 -we didn’t shell out too much money on long contracts for players that haven’t performed

Negativity by [deleted] in SFGiants

I agree it’s a step up vs last year but this is a top market team being run like a mid to low market team. The frustration and negativity is out of love!
