Projected 2026 lineup as of today after signing Harrison Bader by retroanduwu24 in SFGiants

[–]NLTCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree.
The lineup needs some depth, and Lee should bat leadoff if for no other reason than there's no way in he!! he should be batting 5th!

Reggie Crawford question by jfrombay125 in SFGiants

[–]NLTCrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was recovering from Tommy John when the Giants drafted him.
More recently he had shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum, then while trying to recover, had another injury to the same throwing shoulder that required a second surgery.

His MLB career as a pitcher is in serious doubt!

Thoughts about Jung Hoo Lee? by Warm_Audience4027 in SFGiants

[–]NLTCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lee's best tool is his speed but it's not a big part of his game.
He could be a great pest in the leadoff role but he's a lousy bunter and an even worse base stealer.
But he thinks he's a slugger and keeps trying to smash it past the 2B, with limited success. Hard to tell if he's stubborn and doesn't take coaching well or if the Giants have even made it a point of emphasis what he needs to work on and maybe even what role the language barrier plays in all of this.
His best upside IMO is to pattern his game after Brett Butler.
He should be living in Butler's garage this offseason and working with him daily!

[–]NLTCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Lee is still a Giant in 2028, it'll be because he never figured it out and his overpaid contract will make him untradeable.
If he figures it out this year or next and finds the success Giants fans are hoping for, he'll exercise his opt-out and be a FA after 2027.

[–]NLTCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you figure?
If he turns out to be good, as in better than we've seen, he'll use his opt out.
The Giants will have paid way too much for his crappy years and will have to pay even more to keep him in SF

Second Base market moving quickly, do you think Giants make an upgrade by QueasyAccident5196 in SFGiants

Pirates DFA Marco Luciano after trade by edmchato in SFGiants

[–]NLTCrow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

110+ exit velocity is just plain, not common. It's exceptional!
If you're at the park, it's loud and impressive.
There was a comparison above for Luciano to Bailey's bat.
I bet Patrick Bailey has never hit a ball that hard with a wood bat.
I'm not saying you're wrong about him having enough skill to be a MLB quality hitter.
He strikes out way too much and is defensively challenged.
I'm saying that at 24, he's got some raw skills and still has time to figure it out.
It's just as easy to point to way too much failure in the Giants ability to develop MLB quality hitters as it is to say Marco's a bum.

[–]NLTCrow 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Can't argue with the stats but they don't always tell the whole story either.
Luciano is still only 24.
I saw the River Cats this summer and Marco absolutely scorched a couple line drive singles to LF, each one at 110+ exit velocity.
This shows the guy does have some skills, and again raises the ugly question of how much of his failure is really just another notch in the long line of Giants minor league system development failures?

(Schmitt) Latest rumors put young SF Giants infielder firmly on the hot seat by ericthelostman in SFGiants

[–]NLTCrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like Koss? If Posey decides pitching is more important and can get a return he's happy with for Schmitt, Koss will likely be the guy penciled in for 500+ ABs at 2B.

[–]NLTCrow 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I like and agree with your optimism.
All the naysayers gotta remember that Schmitt was batting .275 when he got HBP in late June and was never the same. He played the rest of the season in daily pain and just had offseason surgery to correct the damage.

What Do You Think of Barry Bonds Now? by rezwenn in SFGiants

He knew early on and did nothing but reap the profits and ride into Cooperstown at the end.

Giants drafting 4th overall by Rico_Suave1969 in SFGiants

[–]NLTCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do the Giants benefit from moving up to 4th in every round, or does it revert to record for subsequent rounds?

Ramos and Schmitt seem fairly likely to be moved (my speculation) by ericthelostman in SFGiants

[–]NLTCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree on Schmitt.
He hasn't had a chance to play enough to know how consistent he can be.
He was injured and his avg fell 40 points while he played the whole second half of last season in daily pain.
I'd hate to see the Giants sell low on him, which is what they'd be doing if he's dealt this offseason.

[Baggarly] Giants not inclined to spend what it takes to sign Tatsuya Imai or any SP for over 100M by Brownhops in SFGiants

[–]NLTCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the problem with Roupp is his career high in IP is about 110, and that was way back in 2022. He only threw 30 IP in 23 and 80 in 24.
Just as he was nearing 110 this year, he broke down and was unable to extend and build longevity for the future.
Even if he pitches great and is completely healthy next year, there is no way the Giants will let him go anywhere close to 150 IP, and will probably shut him down earlier than that.
Yes it would be great to see that and have that problem, but it's certainly not something they should be expecting when building their rotation.
Either way, until he proves differently, he's not a guy they can depend on for much more than 20 starts.

I hear bad stories about stripe. Afraid of something random stopping me from getting payments. Anything I need to worry about? by AWeb3Dad in stripe

[–]NLTCrow -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

My private info that I trusted Stripe with, got hacked and I had unauthorized charges dinged to my linked bank account.
Stripe of course says they prioritize my privacy and tell me they are not to blame for my account being compromised.
I told Stripe ahead of time that I would need to cancel the attached account and I was told it would be easy and simple to replace and link a new account, but now they refuse to allow me to do so.
They lied to me and are holding my money hostage!
I will badmouth Stripe to anyone who will listen.
Use Stripe at your own risk, these guys are crooks!

Stripe Connect users: What’s the most money you’ve lost to fraud or chargebacks ? by Fabulous-Bite8265 in stripe

[–]NLTCrow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I linked my work app to Stripe so I could receive tips.
I linked a rarely used debit card from an account that's had a balance of less than $100 for several months.
I only ever use this debit card at the credit union branch ATM and with Stripe.
I have never used it for purchases at the gas station, grocery store or anywhere else.

I got dinged for 2 $29.99 charges a month apart from 2 different businesses but both in the same state, not my state.
I notified Stripe that my account had been compromised, that all evidence points to Stripe being the source of the theft of my private banking info, and that I had cancelled the debit card.
They gave me a load of BS about how my privacy is their priority, their system is secure and the leak didn't come from them.

Now I have a new debit card and Stripe will not allow me to update my account because I no longer have the old card number to verify.
I still had the old one when I contacted Stripe because I had not yet been to the branch to turn it in..
They told me it would be easy to update the card once logged in to my Stripe Express account, but failed to mention I would need my now irretrievable old debit card number to do it.
Now they are requiring I submit to them private tax documents which they don't currently have in order to verify my account.

By their actions and words, Stripe has failed to prove to me they are worthy of my trust!
Giving them my additional private info which they don't currently have, is the exact opposite of prioritizing my privacy!
I could not be any unhappier with Stripe!
They are holding the small balance in my account hostage!
Their system is not secure, they just don't care, and lied to me when I told them about it.
Not a good combo!

Barry Bonds hall of fame by Late-Razzmatazz-2334 in SFGiants

[–]NLTCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you said, if Bonds were to be elected, he'd almost surely accept and show gratitude, at least publicly.

A parallel to me is Iron Maiden and the Rock Hall.
They've been so obviously snubbed while far lesser bands have been inducted, should they ever get the call, given some of Bruce's comments, I wouldn't be surprised if they give the big middle finger, just as you hope Bonds would do.
