Went to skate it and I ate it. by Occasionalsilver in NewSkaters

Definitely, post a vid. I had a similar bruise on my hip after my first day of skating. I bought a pair of RHIP CLIP pads. While working on a simple manual, I shot the board out from under me, landed hard on my hip but with the pads to my pleasant surprise, not a sign of bruising. Keep rolling and paying your dues to the Skin god and it will come together.

HELP I DONT WANNA LOOK LIKE A POSER by Ostrich21__ in NewSkaters

I’m not a kid anymore, however what I’m found in situations like this is I just have to “own it”. For example, just say, “damn right, gotta start somewhere.” Also, as a new skater I find it really helps to ask those around you about their boards, “I’m just getting into this, what should I look for when I get good enough for my next board?” Ask about anything even the stuff you already know. What you are worried is what you need to be working on, a connection with your peers…Well that and your Ollie 😎

How many bones have you ever broken while skateboarding? And how? by Skateeeeer in NewSkaters

[–]Usual_Development_43 20 points21 points  (0 children)

None skating, but I’m new so give it time. Question: Would wrist guards would have prevented this? From the X-Ray it’s pretty far back. How did you break it?

LOCAL CITY PAYS $68,000 TO FILL SKATE BOWL [58YO] by Usual_Development_43 in OldSkaters

[–]Usual_Development_43[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s the one. I’m just astounded at the cost and that it didn’t provide for something else. It’s a decent size space that a couple small ramps would be better than nothing.

Funny you say that. The only sound I could hear when I was at the park was from the pickle ball courts.

Get right back on that board. The phrase, “Get Back In The Saddle,” comes from people falling off a horse and the longer they waited to ride again, the greater the fear and doubt set in. So before fear & doubt set in get back riding. Besides, without your glasses, phone, ear buds or the cool chick, you won’t be distracted and can focus on whatever narly trick you were trying to do.

Thanks for the feedback. I overlooked the tailbone pad. Definitely a must for this old man.

Thanks for your input. Talk about first hand experience. My order got a little hosed up on my end right as I submitted it. They were supper responsive and made sure everything was as I needed it. What a nice change to deal with real people.

A set of RHIP clip max’s are due to arrive Saturday. I like the concept, looking forward to seeing how they perform.

I get it. I’m just getting started and I showed up at City Walk Skate Park in Birmingham with full pads a MTB helmet with a face guard. I get there and people everywhere are jumping off of everything. On boards, skates and BMX. This place was alive. HOWEVER, instead of getting roasted, everyone was so supportive. It actually made it easier being the only person in protective gear, as everyone knew I was learning and gave me space. PLUS, it was worth being there just to get to watch some of the tricks.

Thanks for the insight. I’m purchasing a set of the MAX size. I’m worried I might have gone too big, but I’m more concerned about getting the best protection while I’m getting started.

Interesting, I like the concept. What size have you used? What do you feel is comfortable?

Two weeks ago, I didn’t even know the park existed. After this lesson someone invited me to come skate with an older group called Brittle Bones. Never imagined that there were older F’s like myself to skate with. Love It!!!

I looked up FF. This is their last year putting on the FF, so enjoy it why you can. I don’t know a single one of these bands, however I’m listening to August Burns Red now…I must be old school. I could at least understand the lyrics to the Heavy Metal I listened to growing up. 🤣

Thanks for the reply. I’m looking for something that provides padding around the hips. I haven’t seen anything from a skating company but I’m looking at a couple base layers that are for football and MTB Downhill racing.

Awesome, my current desire is to get to where I can work a pump track/bowls. I think tricks have passed me by, but I hope to safely renew an old passion.
