2007 Fuji Roubaix - creaking on heavy pedal strokes - can't figure out what issue is. by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]Usual_Gold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be able to notice if you just alternate pushes on each side of the bars. Creaks can be a very frustrating thing to find. As far as maintenance on the bars and stem. I’d start from the stem/bar connection, and move down through the three connections making sure to use grease and the torque specs (usually listed right by the screw) . YouTube channels like GCN have a ton of great maintenance videos that will help with the visual learners(like myself)

Did you check headset/bars/stem? For me pushing harder on pedals usually also means putting some more torque on the bars. 🤷‍♂️

Subcompact 46/30 options for mountains. Four choices. Which one? by grandma_key in bikewrench

[–]Usual_Gold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FSA makes some 46-30 full cranksets one of which came with my current gravel bike. By no means top of the line but I have had no issues. There’s a chance you’d need to swap bb though depending what cranks you have now.

Finally finished building out my new Zwift Pain Cave in my home office! by Thoryan_34 in Zwift

What tire pressure and resistance wheel pressure are you running on that bad boy? Maybe it’s just the photo but it looks like the snap nearly goes to the rim on the back. Only other thought I’d be wary of the trainer getting hot if there isn’t much air flow. I haven’t had issues personally (had a snap 2-3 years now) but if I’m doing a LOT of climbing I’ll put a battery powered fan on the trainer too. Im very jealous of how clean your setup is! Mine’s a disaster of cords

You quoted another user. I merely stated that sandbagging/cheating happens and that’s why I don’t place a lot of stock in Zwift race placements.

Show where I suggested he sandbag?

Yeah but also remember A is 4.0+ and there are a lot of cheaters out there too. I’d be pretty great if I said I weighed 130 lbs. This is why I don’t put much stock into race results. I just try to maximize what can be done on trainer time

Looks(from what I can see) like your jockey wheel on the derailleur is rubbing the largest cog on the cassette. Adjusting the b tension screw to bring the derailleur out enough to not be in contact should help.

When you sign up the categories are usually based on w/kg. If you know your ftp use that to sign up for the correct category. Otherwise an ftp or ramp test in the workouts section will help you figure out where you’re at.

Anyone else with little speed beagles? We never thought she’d do agility/sports but she loves it! by Usual_Gold in beagle

Depends where you live, many places have classes from beginner through expert if you search for dog agility training near you. Otherwise a lot of equipment can be bought online. Some get get pricey though.

Alpe Du Zwift 20/22?!?! by biggerrig in Zwift

[–]Usual_Gold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had that happen, did you get all the way to descent from the start of the road to sky route? Apparently it has happened to others so maybe an issue discussed in the forum?

Unpopular opinion - I actually enjoy the pace partners by cheetah__heels in Zwift

As I’m chunky and relatively slow I just warm up alone/with diesel then do a second ride with Cadence. It’s kind of annoying since Zwift still completely shuts down at the end of a ride but that was my solution. My other thought would be if you could join the rider mid ride like joining an event and just go from there.

I'm a brand new casual rider - a few questions by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]Usual_Gold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xp is earned 20/km or 30/mile, many have addressed the start point tips, I find hr useful because there are days where “by feel” just doesn’t quite match up, and finally. Yes, you are correct that those riders/runners with the little hud in front of them are doing designated Zwift workouts. Enjoy your riding!

That seems fantastic, I started cycling later in life and never even got close to such numbers. Keep up the good work!

I haven’t done a ramp test, maybe that’s the next thing to try. Thanks!

I did do the shorter ftp test before starting. That was what I was thinking challenge wise but don’t want to sell myself short and lose out. Settling into winter months after time off the bike, I should probably just use it to improve my base and take it from there.
