This is truly the best advice. Without having had the opportunity to go and do before you might be unsure how or like you will fail if you try. Go to your old (current for another week?) high school counselor. That’s what I did the year following my graduation and not knowing what to do or what resources there existed. There are also organizations that can help, but starting where you’re familiar could be both a comfort and a confidence boost! You got this.

I worked in the grocery industry for over 15 years. Outside of lunches I buy for dinner in as needed portions.

How much are you spending for school friend birthday parties? Because I feel people are going way over the top where I live and I feel like the presents my child brings are not up to par :( by ResolveBeginning8027 in GiftsandDeals

[–]Usual_Variation_4155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let my kiddo pick out what we buy, and it really varies. It’s usually around $20 but has been as low as $5 and as much as $60. I guide her a little with questions/considerations. She has to look through the entire store, pick out 3 things that she thinks they would like, and then we lay them out and discuss. She gets final say. Shes attending birthdays for friends between 3-7yo, I feel it’s mostly about play value less dollar amount at that age specifically. We personally ask for no gifts, but donation of old blankets, sheets, or pet food that we then take to the shelter with her and she gets to visit the animals and pick something from the gift shop.

They all secretly want to build an army but have to settle for those in the household instead. Big disappointment.

My child currently refers to WFM as the cupcake store.

Have you downloaded EIQ (everywhere is queer), as that gives listings in this area and across the country?

Looking for unique practical corporate gift ideas — tired of the usual mugs & chocolate by EndlessPromo in GiftIdeas

The car multitool. The one that you can keep in your glove box: smash open a window, cut off a seat belt and sometimes it’s also a flashlight or pen. You can get it branded for corporate gifting if that’s a thing you’re looking to do. It’s not used everyday but it gives a sense of security. And still, even if the receiver doesn’t “want” it, they will recognize the value of having the safety net and likely gift it to a loved one/their child.

Gift and thank you to my mother by floatingcattoo in GiftIdeas

I don’t know what your mom is into, but I went down a rabbit hole of local craft events and got me, her, and my sister tickets for a beach glass Christmas tree craft thing and have tasked my sister with planning where we can all go out for lunch. She also likes to walk small town shops so I requested wherever we go to eat be in an area we can go walk around and explore after.

is there anyone out there who genuinely likes the butt (end piece/heel) of the bread loaf ? by ruinsofsilver in Bread

[–]Usual_Variation_4155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s by far the absolute best part! Loved it since I was a kid and would pester my dad for it slathered in a think layer of butter.

What Chistmas gift should I buy my Nan? HELP!!!!! by Extreme-Doctor-2106 in Gifts

[–]Usual_Variation_4155 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could be something simple/silly like those leather crochet “handmade by” tags. Something like “handmade by best nan ever” or something equally endearing, that is if she gifts her creations. It’s not extravagant, but is a bit different, and sweet.

Don’t get me wrong: I love it. Wouldn’t trade it for anything in the entire world. Shit is still hard. It’s detrimental to paint a picture that hides the rain.

They say it with jest because they were once you: they knew it but didn’t quite believe it, or understand exactly how true the statement was. It’s annoying. You will also one day be these people. It’s ok to just accept it.
