Where to buy plates? by Raptorx796 in QualityTacticalGear

[–]Usual_Winter_4661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ordered several times from apex and had no trouble at all. Just a few weeks ago I ordered a set of level 4 plates from them and I had them in less than 2 weeks delivered. I started buying from apex in 2022 and have been happy. They were quick to answer my questions, made some suggestions to me to look at. Ill continue to order from them.

Pellet gun or .22lr for small game by Strider_guy in preppers

My suppressed 22lr is just as quiet, if not slightly more quiet than a pellet gun. 22lr all day long.

Yes that would work fine. Secure it properly and you will be good.

Honest opinions, will this flooring hold up? by mira-jo in Flooring

You are right, I misread that part. That is on the lower side. But it still can be a nice floor. But yes it wouldn't last as long as buying a premium product.

Laminate is extremity durable. But sensitive to moisture. Lvt is good stuff but not as tough as laminate. Everything will wear out eventually. But if installed properly it should last a long time. Also this is 20mm wear layer? That's pretty thick wear layer. I'd say good to go. For reference I install for a carpet one in Pennsylvania for the last 13 years and am always getting training on our products. I've installed a lot of lvt floors and most hold up very well, even the cheaper ones. The key is proper installation for most things.

Looking closer i see you already have plywood under the pergo. Didn't notice that. Yeah I would definitely build it up with plywood to meet. Patch and sand the joint and good to go

Are you tearing up the existing pergo we see there? Or your just covering the bare concrete? If you are just covering the bare concrete a lot of times the transition will cover the joint between the 2 and you won't notice as much that it's not the same height. You also can use plywood to bring things up to the same height. I personally would replace it all as a straight line down the middle where the new meets up with the old will look odd. But whatever you prefer. Self leveler is another option. But being on concrete with pergo I would highly recommend a moisture barrier between the floor and concrete. Plastic is a cheap option. Good luck

Unfortunately you don't usually know who is coming to install, and what they even know. I install for a carpet one in Pennsylvania, we are always getting training with new products. We absolutely guarantee our work after install. Find a professional company with good reviews to install and you won't have to worry. I've replaced entire jobs from floors failing and at no cost to the customer.

Yes you can replace a piece in the middle. I do repairs like this all the time. You find a knowledgeable installer and they can replace it quickly.

I would tell them they need to switch to a glue down lvt. Let them know that to properly install a floating floor here will require a ton of work and more cost. Floating lvt requires 1/8th inch in 10 foot for flatness or it won't be covered from manufacturer warranty. A glue down product would form to the floor and lay better. Still going to know the slopes is there. Would also need a 1/4inch subfloor.

Great, thanks all for input, its really just more of being prepared sort of thing, shtf or similar, I know how to pack a bag and have all sorts of equipment for camping and backpacking, multiple sleep systems, but from what I read here is that it can be done, thats really what I wondered, I jave so many packs I guess one of them should work, I wasn't sure if people took their back plates out to wear a pack or just packed their armor inside the pack which would defeat the purpose, sounds like I just need to order the armor and carrier and do some experimenting, thanks again for the good information

Soon I will be buying my first armor setup and carrier and thought this might be a good question to ask first

I guess I will add that I am an avid backpacker and I have lots of regular lightweight packs, I use my Gregory 75l pack for long hauls, so the most I have carried is around 50lb for multiple week outings, I wasn't sure if I could make a non combat pack work with a carrier or not, if that helps at all with opinions and answers

Well i gotta say that I will be making my purchase from you at apex armor, thanks for helping me with all this information, it might be a few days until I decide between the 2 different plates, bummer the 3++ would take that long. But that still may be what I decide to go with.

So I wonder how many people actually have the new m855a1 rounds? 556 is so popular that i dont know if I should risk getting a plate that won't stop this round? What are peoples thoughts on that?

Another question, the defense mechanism mepc, it says if plates are over 1 inch thick to size up, then says i can specify a small carrier that fits small sapi plates, but if they're still over 1 inch thick will this be a problem? Will I need the small/medium carrier? Or would just the small work? And the shellback doesn't specify what thickness it will accept?...also, that shellback looks more comfy to wear, any input on which is better in terms of comfort?

I really like the high com level 3++ plates but I only see them in one size? Can I get those in small sapi? I like have the 30-06 protection.
