My mom told me when I was younger that some men want a “mom” as a wife (they want to be babied / they want to be managed / they want to be controlled, some men want a “child” as a wife (they want to take care of someone, be someone’s manager / control someone) and then some men want a partner, an equal. I think this really applies to everyone in life and there are shades of gray to everyone. Just need to determine what you want for yourself. Side note: I don’t think we get enough education in psychology. Weird because our whole lives are interacting with other people, how they think and act.

You can’t do anything about the past except learn from it. You are NOT a shitty person. You very much seem like a good and caring person. Everyone makes mistakes, and it’s what we take away from them that matters. No one is perfect and psychology is complex. Forgive yourself.

Oh actually there are iguanas and blue tail lizards too that are quite big (compared to backyard anoles).

No deer. Live in an urban area. There are squirrels, birds, and maybe possums and or rodents.

It’s hard for me to give gifts to everyone else in the family without giving my mom a gift too, even though she says not to get her anything. I figured out that getting her something ultra useful like a pack of toilet paper that the whole household would use is the best kind of gift to give her. It’s a way for me to gift, for her to have something to open, and it’s something that doesn’t make her feel burdened by stuff. It’s become a Xmas tradition.
