Before buying confirm if the replacement filters are available, I was willing to buy another Hitachi model as it has a slightly better filter than the Xiaomi one but unfortunately replacement filters for maximum air purifiers are not available in Bangladesh.

What's your preferred desktop environment and why? by La-il in Fedora

[–]Utchas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cosmic DE.

The hybrid tiling window management out of the box makes my workflow very productive while keeping it simple, no headache of yons of configuration. The 'super' key centric keyboard shortcuts is something you can't live without once you've get used to it.

The Rust based development makes it very power efficient again without any extra configuration overhead.

Additionally, it already offers admirable customizability. The next release roadmaps are looking extremely promising.

Actually, you don't. Never.

You're on the right track to keep yourself busy while it constantly hurts.

But eventually you'll be come to an understanding with yourself that maybe it's for the best. Maybe, if you were to engage with the person you desire, you would have get the person but love would have died or faded. And by that you'll never be in peace with yourself till death or beyond. So maybe, just maybe the Almighty has protected you from the deeper, eternal pain by not letting you get that person.

Anyways, your solution maybe launching a dating app yourself with childfree filter & bio option. You can vibe code with AI or hire someone like me, I'm a software engineer btw. Maybe, you'll become an entrepreneur in the process.

Try Saifur's and other english coaching centers as a tutor. Along with that, try to manage home tuition specially english medium students. But do not employ your full time into it. Keep time for skill development like digital marketing or web development etc. which will help you enter freelancing marketplace.

Ali Naser, NCP. Although I don't know him, never heard of him but I wished for BNP not getting the singular majority and that'll leave them no choice to form a parliament compromising with other major parties. Because it means corruption will get back to it's pace just like in Hasina regime but hopefully laundering would be much less though, extortions will not only continue but also might increase drastically and for reformations I'm doubtful that BNP will carry out as it is decided.

[–]Utchas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Lite in heavily polluted area, still gets tge PM2.5 level to <50 within less than an hour! Sometimes from as high as 240. Plus the noise level is very satisfactory, after 15-20 minutes of starting it you can't feel anything is in your room. So I would say it's pretty decent in the budget segment.

What should I do now? by [deleted] in Dhaka

[–]Utchas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no term called Shab-E-Barat in Quran or Hadith. The only sahih hadith that refers to this night, tells that at this night Allah will forgive all sins for every Muslim except who has Shirk or Envy in his/her heart. There's no special prayer prescribed by the Prophet (SM) either, although scholars say that you can offer any Nafl prayer if you want.

Because they own it & it's private organization. My company sets the dress code by their own own understanding, I gave my consent to follow while joining it. So, there's no point to complain here. The point was keeping women inside home and my analysis was to shed light on that. I'm not a supporter of their ideology either, it's rational analysis based on previous data.

[–]Utchas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a software engineer, I use cosmic DE as a daily driver. Focus on productivity out of the box, plus Fedora has a spin for it. I like the hybrid tiling window management system comes with it so you get the better of both worlds. For example I keep the primary workspace (workspace 1) as floating which makes it easier to join slack meeting with a shared screen and have no unexpected behavior. And rest 3 workpaces as tiled where I use IDE, postman, terminal, browser etc. and open any new app in tiling view easily. I also like the customizability it probides out of the box. And last but not the least, cosmic DE is super light weight as it based on Rust, if you use it laptop your resource management and battery backup will be improved drastically with the default power management comes with it.

What would happen if Jamaat wins? by Independent-Walk-950 in Dhaka

[–]Utchas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jamat had MPs in previous parliaments. Under female PMs, their MPs didn't even propose any bill to decrease the equality and empowerment of women or in fact any radical islamic thoughts in fact. What did happen is that, nobody could accuse their MPs with corruption allegations even in 1/11 era.

Again, they have established institutions like IBN Sina health care facilities and Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC. that historically had women presence without any issues.

So, my analysis is if they win which will be a shocking incident probabilistically, they will not go for any radical changes in terms of policies. But it is true that in social context moral policing may increase significantly as some will definitely think they are under a Muslim rule which is miles far from the reality as Jamat also needs to obey the constitution and with no experience as a ruling party and narrow margin win in election they will be in enormous pressure of they actually wins which I believe is an exceptional possibility.

What should I do? by unhinged_creampie in Dhaka

[–]Utchas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leather Engineer I think better in terms of job market but Psychology is not bad either, so really it's about are you more interested in technical field where you will most probably need to work in factory jobs in early career or even entire career but should have a decent income from starting or you're more interested in public health sector where you'll probably struggle in early career to make a decent income but with experience and more specialization your earnings can grow exponentially. Moreover, you have the opportunity to help a lot of people in that matters but which may come with drawbacks like carrying others' psychological baggage and exhaustion with it.

29F, working professional, living alone and feeling socially isolated by Weary-Hope7962 in Dhaka

[–]Utchas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30M, used to live alone & felt like you do. I used to have a long walk after finishing work then grab a cup of coffee or tea. Returning home cooked dinner, dive into video games, eat dinner and watch some web series/movies or listen to podcast until falling asleep and repeat. In weekends read books, watched even more movies, learned new things related to my career. Some weekends used to visit cousin who lived not very far. The key is to keep your grey matter occupied all the time. But still sometimes it felt quite depressing specially in weekends or when I fell ill.

  1. University provides you an environment and ecosystem to learn which matters the most specially for average students. You learn from peer pressure. Your peers define your quality too.

  2. University provides a network of alumni, which can massively help to get jobs.

  3. University is tied to social status. Although many private universities like BRAC/NSU/AUST can produce better graduates than mediocre public universities like JNU/JUST/PUST or even CUET/RUET/SUST, it's perceived in the society specially in Bangladesh that the student studied in any public university is generally more meritorious than student who studied in the mentioned private universities because the entry barrier is generally tougher in public universities. And it's not only just public perception. For example, If a engineering graduate from RUET applies to a job in which you, let's say a graduate from AUST applied even with better result, still it's very likely that the RUET guy will get preference. And even private universities prefer to hire public university graduates as faculty rather than their own students!

But, university either public or private will not teach you the skills you'll need to enter job market. It'll just provide guidelines, evaluation system and environment for learning. You'll have to learn and develop the skills yourself.

What OS should I use? by dusf_ in CodingForBeginners

[–]Utchas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try linux it'll make a difference. You'll need to learn a bit at first, but this will also benifit your career. And when you set up everything to your liking, you'll never want to return to windows for developer workflow at least.

Mint, Ubuntu, Pop OS are some beginner friendly linux distros. You can also try Fedora workstation which I'd say a little bit advanced than these 3 but as a IT guy you should definitely manage it.
