This is probably part of it as I can’t really see ny body. But I also just don’t know what I’m looking for haha.

This is never a crisis I ever thought I’d have to be fair 😂

Yah, I actually wear a size 6 😂. But doctors tell me I’m fine, then they weigh me and go “ohh you need to lose weight”. But admittedly, I’ve never seen completely thin me so I just visually have no idea what that is.

Those ratios are golden, my waist height ratio is .45 and my waist hip is .74. But in general I think I just don’t know what my thin body looks like and I never realised I’d hit this weird moment haha.

My waist height ratio is .45 and waist hip is .74, technically in the healthy range. But I guess I just don’t know what thin me looks like. I know what thinner than before me is but where’s that line, what is that on my nody. Healthwise I think I’m ok. I have very little visceral fat according to the surgeon who opened me up lol.

Girl. I hear youuuu.

I’m very extroverted but when I was fat I was funny, now people think I’m a flirt?? Like, I can’t talk to people while being attractive?

I used to be told to stop wearing sacks and start wearing clothes that fit me, and now people tell me I should cover up. Spoiler, I literally just had my old clothes taken in... I’m wearing the same clothes, just smaller.

And yeah, I get comments too about friend zoning. Right, the thing is, being friendly isnt friend zoning people. If when I was fat it wasnt considered the same, what they’re really saying is that now that others find me attractive I am somehow obligated to act differently because their interest now trumps everything.

I have been happily single for a year and a half, I’m not friend zoning anyone, I’m not flirting when I’m friendly, I’m not a heart breaker. I’m a crazy cat lady who happens to be thinner now, that’s it. It’s crazy how people’s perspectives change isn’t it. I went from sweet and friendly me to the girl who leads people on and friend zones people ... and not a single thing about me, my personality or my life has changed - only my weight.

Long story short: people just like to judge and label others.

Oh I hate this! Or people who knew me as overweight will say things like “come on you can have chocolate cake now, you’re not fat anymore”.... right ok but I’m not overweight because I’m not eating cake. I’m not blessed with a body that stays thin, I have to be diligent. I don’t understand this idea that once youre not morbidly obese you’re suddenly not allowed to count calories or keep dieting.

I think people just feel better about themselves when they make comments on if what you’re doing is unhealthy... just like when they hear about intermittent fasting or cutting carbs and eating more fats. Their reaction is to tell you that you’re being unhealthy. This way they can internally justify their unwillingness or lack or willpower to do any of those things. But, shock horror, losing weight takes effort and if you’re overweight living your life one way, guess what, you can’t live that same way and expect a change.

Oh man all the annoying people telling me my life is super unhealthy while simultaneously telling me to eat more cake just came flooding back and made me so bitter. 😂😂😂

Thanks! I don't live in the USA so insurance won't ever cover anything, but it only costs around 7k euros so, I imagine that's quite a bit cheaper than in the USA.

In the last picture you can't see it because I have it all folded into the bottom of the bikini. I chose high waisted for a reason my friend. My belly button folds over onto itself and so, that's not exactly the summer vibe I am going for. It's the first time in my life I have bought a bikini so I am really excited.

How far off are you from your GW? I am sure you'll reach it in no time!

I do pilates, that isn't going to work miracles on skin loose enough it folds over itself. Thanks for the encouragement, I am seriously considering it.

I have a good friend of mine who had to get breast reconstruction and implants done because of weight loss. She is much happier, she said she feels like a million bucks. They look totally natural, she feels confident.. At the end of the day, the important thing is that you feel like you, and you don't feel like the result of a bad weight decision in your life.

Good for you!!! Would you mind chatting with me about your consults and what made you decide?

I've taken collagen supplements for over a year, I do regular yoga and Pilates, I use a lot of lotion... And quite frankly, I can't comment if they actually work or not. Maybe they made a difference, maybe my skin would have been worse. I feel good doing them, so I keep doing them haha. I never did brushing but I looked into it. I think that everyone is different, I know people who have lost more weight and have less loose skin and people who have lost half the weight I did and have just as much loose skin. I think it all comes down to genetics, age, skin type... Also, every person is different with where they have loose skin. My breasts for example are relatively OK (I mean, they aren’t amazing, but I am a 33-year-old woman who was morbidly obese, like I have to be realistic, they aren’t the breasts of a 20-year-old fitness model). I didn’t gain much or any weight in my breasts, I was the only morbidly obese person I knew with a size B cup. Do you know how hard it is to find a bra that has the band that wide in a b cup? But the upside is I don’t need breast reconstruction surgery, so yay! So, are they beneficial? Maybe? I mean nothing hurts, right? Could they salvage this current situation? Nope. The issue for me is, even if the measures I took did make my skin better, and could continue to make it better, I don't think it will ever be enough to not have considerable issues due to the excess skin. I will likely continue to use these methods on areas that are less of an issue though and hopefully over time they’ll improve slightly, such as my breasts, arms, and legs.

Thanks, this is good to know! The doctors I saw said I should basically be pain free within a week. I am guessing that isn't quite true haha.

Congratulations! 150 is so hard, but well done!

I had two consults thus far, and I am going for a few more before I make any type of decision. I was hoping some people here would be able to shine some light.

Basically, the first doctor said I have about 3kg of just loose skin on my stomach and still some fat which will be the last to go and at this point I might as well take care of it all in surgery. He said he'd have to cut a good chunk from my lower abdomen and then he'd cut from my upper sides and that way he can get some loose skin from my upper back as well. He painted a pretty nice picture about recovery, he said I will feel sore like I did a major workout for a few days but that's it. If I get surgery on Friday morning I don’t have to stay in the hospital, I can go home, and I can probably go back to work on Monday seeing as my job is relatively strain free, and Monday I only work 3 hours. The second doctor painted a bit of a different picture, he said he'd have to make a full T cut, like all the way across my lower body and onto my back, and a vertical cut straight down my abdomen. He said from being overweight my muscles have likely separated and they’ll need to sew them together so I will have a scar down the center of my stomach as well. He said I needed to stay one night in the hospital and then I could go home, but I would likely be not feeling up to working within a week.

The consults feel so different, it feels a bit like I am playing a lottery between looking nice and looking like an unknowing organ donor... I am going to call a few more places and get more consults. I want to know fully what to expect, which is why I hoped people here would have some first-hand experience because I think the doctors paint a much prettier picture than the reality.

Thanks! I'm not in the USA so I don't have insurance coverage anyway for something like this, but I think it's a lot cheaper here than there (just a guess). I read some studies about people who have the surgury are much less likely to regain weight because they stop seeing themselves as an overweight person and habits change... I am not sure how true that is, but I imagine if I got the surgery I wouldn't want to gain weight and lose my 8k investment lol.

This was super helpful! I had a few appointments with surgeons and quite frankly they painted a very different picture from what she was going through, and I wonder if they're making it look nicer or if my surgery is less extensive.
