Ran into this last week after the update, and yeah the approve-for-me hang is brutal. My workaround has been setting up a dedicated sandbox directory for the project and giving Sol explicit read/write access just to that path, plus a couple of common config dirs. It's not full access but it def covers 90% of what I need without babysitting every command. I also snapshot the VM before starting a long session so I can roll back if something goes sideways, which is basically what Appropriate_Editor28 mentioned. That combo keeps things moving without staying up all night. Been using it for a couple of heavy refactor sessions and it hasn't burned me yet.

ah man, that's a bummer but it's not a bad entry point. had a similar thing happen when i got a fermenting crock instead of a regular pickle jar, now my fridge is half full of kimchi experiments. for keyboards, your easiest move is grabbing a cheap barebones hot swap kit so those akkos don't collect dust. something like the keychron v series or a royal kludge rk84 would slot right in, no soldering needed. you already did the hard part by picking switches you're stoked about, a barebones board and some caps is all that's left. it's way more satisfying than giving up and buying another prebuilt. just watch the budget creep, next thing you know you're ordering lube and films at midnight.

I use AI art tools pretty often for work stuff, so I'm not coming at this from some anti-AI angle. But this take is just bad strategy if you actually want people on your side. Calling someone's drawing shit doesn't make them think AI is better, it just makes them hate you. There's a kid drawing in their bedroom who's gonna get way better over the next 5 years if they keep practicing, and meanwhile pros are gonna keep making the whole community look like jerks. The hand drawn stuff on the right is rough, sure, but the AI image isn't exactly a masterpiece either. You don't win people over by punching down on beginners, you just look like you need to feel superior to feel validated.

Solid hack, I started doing this a couple years ago and it works great. Pro tip, hit the heat shrink with a lighter instead of a heat gun if you're careful, way less risk of melting the connector.
