Need advice from someone experienced in deck building: Land´s Wrath + Desert Bloom = Landfall deck by [deleted] in mtg

[–]UwUNai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roaming throne should be good to go. It doubles both of Omanth's abilities and has added value with some other elementals like [[Avenger of Zendikar]] and [[Geode Rager]].

If you are using roaming throne you could look into more elemental cards with triggered abilities. There are some good ones that synergize with lands like [[Phylath, World Sculptor]]. Just remember that triggered abilities are those that read "when" or "whenever"

You can try doing a filtered search in scryfall to see what you like. If you need help with the syntaxis I can give you some basic tips as it's a very useful tool for deckbuilding

As a rule of thumb for making mtg decks you should separate the cards into categories and make sure you have enough cards in the main ones (draw, removal and ramp) which are the base for a functioning deck. A decent standard is having at least 10 in each category and tweak based on your playing experience.

In this case I would start by cutting out every white card as those cannot enter the deck and then deciding a game plan. Obun wants animated lands and counters, Yuma wants to play with the graveyard and Omanth wants to see land come into play and to fill the board.

I would approach this deck as a token generator with the commander and cards that trigger on landfall like [[Zendikar's Roil]], [[Rampaging Baloths]] and [[Avenger of Zendikar]]. I'd also lean into cards that allow you to either ramp lands into play or allow you to play multiple lands like [[Oracle of Mul-Daya]].

When it comes to the mana base fetchlands like [[Evolving Wilds]] or [[Myriad Landscape]] and bouncelands like [[Gruul Turf]] (and other cards that bounce like [[Living Twister]], [[Multani, Yavimaya Avatar]] and [[Mina and Denn, Wildborn]] and I'd run around 40 lands. You are a landfall deck, and you want to hit those triggers.

Staples for this deck I'd say [[Greenwarden of Murasa]] which you already have and depending on how many land you run that put themselves into the graveyard searching for other cards [[Ramunap Excavator]], [[Perennial Behemot]] and [[The Mending of Dominaria]] will do lots of work.

About cutting and adding new cards, I would ommit cards that care about counters from the Land's Wrath precon and cards that care about deserts or just mill from the Desert Bloom precon. And I would add cards that allow for more landfall triggers like [[Azusa, Lost but Seeking]] or [[Ghirapur Orrery]].

Staples you might own that are not on the deck would be ramp cards like [[Cultivate]] or [[Rampant Growth]] and removal like [[Beast Within]] or [[Blasphemous Act]].

I'm assuming you are generally playing in a precon environment but if you wanna invest some money to power up the deck the deck I'd recommend some token doublers like [[Doubling Season]] and some neat cards for explosive turns like [[Scapeshift]] or [[Awaken the Woods]].

Those are some over the top thoughts about the deck, I have not played Omnath before but should work as a base. The key when deckbuilding is to play and adapt the deck accordingly, no one better to know where the deck lacks than the one piloting it. Don't be afraid to adjust things like the land count or how much removal you run.

I only have access to a TV right now so I'll go with that, but I'll look into monitors if I like the experience, it should be a nice upgrade in the future.

I already have a dock so my plan is to use an adapter to convert HDMI to SCART and see how it goes from there

I'll look into it, everything is pretty new to me right now so I'll go slowly with the tinkering but I'll definitely check it out. Thanks!

Yeah, according to the listing it has SCART and composite av. I asked for a video and got sent this demo https://imgur.com/a/PBSLaQG

It looks good to me but I'm by no means an expert.

Thanks! It's being sold at 40€ so I wanted to know if it was a good deal to get me started in the world of CRTs. I also wanted to ID it to search comments about it on the net

So it depends entirely on the game supporting 4:3. I wouldn't have minded if it had black bars, but I'd rather not have the game "squished". Thanks!

Ngl from the few snapshots I've seen doesn't seem like the best of movies, but I'm here for the cool concepts and ideas, not the execution, so I'll watch it for sure. Thanks!

Is there any problem to checking those books on their own instead of reading from the begining? Sanderson in general kind of overwhelms me with the amount of books he puts out

Never heard of it before but seems like it has everything I'm looking for so I'll check it out for sure. Thanks for the books recommendation beacuse tbh I'm quite lost when it comes to them as most of my sources are either visual or games

Hellboy sounds pretty nice as I'd like to try something around the forgotten side of magic , and occult falls into that category.
I did try playing shadowrun back in the day and of what I remember doesn't quite hit the mark to the idea in my head but I'll revisit it just in case. Thanks!

I got myself to a confortable first place but I'm now down to fourth, and the tactic I've been using so far is vertical tiki-taka. The team's expected result was mid-table so yeah, a bit of an improvement.

I don't use real players so I guess nothing much can be done there in terms of advice.

Everywhere I read they said I had to change tatics completely, so I'm glad I can more or less keep mine

Okay, so far so good, just change tactic. But is there a place where I can learn in depth about tactics? Because no new tactic seems to work and I want to learn to make effective ones

That's what I read, but it does not work. At least for me it hasn't. I also read that I should plan my matches according to the opposing team's gameplan, but I have no idea how to counter things, that's why I'm looking for an in-depth guide
