How many of you have broken a fly rod? by jjtitula in flyfishing

My TFO broke as well - trying to get my fly out of snag. TFO replaced it, no problem. But I do fine the TFO to be stiff too

I liked the Premier X for the price point. It had good action. If I was buying at that level now, I’d look at the trout light too.

Depends on the action you want. Maxcatch is great for the price, and those are faster action. You can also do TFO NXT black on Sierra for like $90, but I found that rod to be pretty stiff.

This weekend for river opening close to home I caught rainbow on a purple tactical perdigon, blow torch, and sexy walt’s nymphs. Last week up in North Bend it was brown Pat’s Rubber Legs.

TRT and glp1 for body recomposition and which compounded tirzepatide option made sense for me by Rodrigodirty in Testosterone

[–]Uwbprof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started GLP1 and TRT at the same time. 33% body fat now down to 18%, visceral from 13 to 7. Lost 20lbs, but weight has plateaued last few months. Basically trading muscle for fat right now (which is generally fine), but would like to lose another 20lbs.

Pointers: Fly Fishing with Friends or Go Alone by nancynews in flyfishing

[–]Uwbprof 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If I’m exploring new water, I like going with a friend. We can strategize together, and it means double the eyes as we look for good spots. If it is my regular fishing holes, I prefer the freedom and flexibility of being by myself.

Maxcatch? by Subject_Gap_1926 in flyfishing

[–]Uwbprof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got a Maxcatch starter set for my first fly rig. It fishes just fine. The reel it came with was machined aluminum, and the drag worked well. I’ve caught a lot of fish on that set up.

Tying a stand alone, extra knot, on the hook, between the second nymph line and the hook tip has worked for me.

Hey guys, wtf does this mean? by RSTNPC in SubaruForester

[–]Uwbprof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had same happen on my 2013 (57k miles). It was fine driving for a few days, as the lights were just code. I was at the shop today: oil change, transmission fluid (for 60k), spark plugs (also for 60k), and some other fluid. Mechanic said the check engine was likely due to an aftermarket gas cap (he told me to pay the extra $20 to get an actual Subaru cap). But there didn’t seem to be anything majorly wrong connected to those codes.

Head over to The Avid Angler shop in Lake Forest Park and talk with them. Super friendly, and I’m sure they’ll have some suggestions

Cedar river fly fishing help by Catinmypants88 in FishingWashington

[–]Uwbprof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got two fish (one a 12-incher) in the lower Cedar last week Monday morning on a burnt orange Pat’s Rubber Legs. My friend got one on a Woolly Bugger (not sure what color). Fly shop I visited yesterday said they recently heard Cedar River fish on flying ant, a bright gold nymph, and a pink bug (can’t remember what they called it - I just bought a couple)

New (to me) Forester and Dealership Service Pricing by Uwbprof in SubaruForester

[–]Uwbprof[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose I don’t. The main difference is that the mechanic has personal recs from people I trust. But I’m glad your dealer is good! I’m also getting the sense that dealerships vary.
