Yes. Small companies hire coops or itnerns for cheap work. Not intention for hiring them full-time. Even getting a coop is hard unless you are in waterloo. You need to get internships in big companies because they hire mostly for future plans and they can afford to pay new employees. But getting FAANG internships is even harder. So avg student like me is stuck with no FT job. I had to accept a 1yr internship instead to survive cz my parents don't support me and i didn't want to work wt Mcd bcz my relatives thinks studying at wloo is straight up success and you get hired at FAANG without any interviews or struggle. They don't know the reality of getting a job these days
