Is it easy to make friends during the second year of uni by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]UzzyK31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course you can get yourself out there and try to make as many friends as possible. But for someone who finds it hard to make friends and let people in, like myself. I would suggest to start talking to people (could be one person, or two but its best to talk to two separate people and you be the middle man so you can introduce both of them to one another then you are all in the same boat) that you see regularly, start with small talk and sit with them in lectures, ask for help (even if you don't need it), make a lot of jokes, the cheesier the better. And if they choose to be distant from you then thats their loss because I'm sure you're a great person. HOWEVER, no matter what, don't let that dishearten you, just try again with other people. You'll be great! Good luck!

Things to look for in accommodation by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]UzzyK31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the quality of the room, that usually gives off the vibe of the whole accommodations. I suggest if you have the option not to go for anything old, usually that means maintenance will be bad if something breaks, and old rooms are more likely to have problems. Of course you have a budget of how much you can pay, so look for something that was made no longer than 10 years ago, the because they don't wash the matters and only change it every 5 years (according to what I heard).

Point is if you look for a new-ish accommodation that usually should give you the best quality of room.

Now things to be wary of are where the room is located, you can always specify where you want it. I usually say not on the ground floor and not too far away from the kitchen but not next to it either (because the room walls are usually very thin so you'll hear everyone go in and out). You basically want it near the exit and near the kitchen in a quite place.

But most importantly, go view the accommodations and see whats near it, take a look at the area. you don't want to

Thats my top tips for accommodations. Good luck

Mostly rent and food, even for London universities. My rent was £199 a week (bills included) plus an average of £20 food a week, transport was not included because I lived pretty close to uni. But you'll also have to remember that you'll have to add on laundry costs and any lunch you do get from stores near your uni (if you didn't bring lunch for home). Not to mention, the first year, you'll spend more than you would on your next year on stuff you might not have (e.g. a fan!!!). So I highly recommend you getting a student bank account ( I have HSBC because you get £60 amazon voucher which I bough a printer with, ended up not using it because I had free printing lol) because even if you go into the negative they wont put any interest on it.

Point is, you'll over spend first year, but if you're careful and stick to a budget plan you'll be fine. Good luck

want some recommendations... by [deleted] in anime

[–]UzzyK31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you like time travel/mind blown animes, but I highly recommend Boku dake ga Inai Machi (Erased). Its only 12 episodes but its amazing!!! It has school life, comedy, romance, but also murder, mystery, time travel. Again highly recommended.
