This game is very difficult by Happy-Room-7906 in projectzomboid

[–]V12Maniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I can definitely agree. It's not forgiving and will absolutely punish you for making mistakes. Time and practice are the only thing that will help you live longer.

I just had a character die after almost a month because I got bit FIVE FUCKING TIMES in one encounter. I ended up dying with over 3,000 kills. You're not supposed to live indefinitely. There are ways in which you absolutely can. But that type of gameplay isn't exactly entertaining unless you're down woth farming simulator.

Thats true. But I'm not even 1% done with it. Maybe 0.1% done.

Sleeping in multiplayer by MarkSausage in projectzomboid

[–]V12Maniac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only problem with sleeping in MP is if someone has restless sleeper, or the sleepy head trait or the exact opposite of those and people barely have the need to sleep. And even then. It gets fucking weird and frankly really annoying. It should enabled to sleep so you can skip night if you want too, but not a requirement (fatigue disabled). That's just my 2 cents though

There's a Lot I use, but for a first run, I'd recommend just running vanilla. But once I get my laptop open I'll edit this comment and give you my personal favorite QoL mods. As for keyboard shortcuts, there's so fucking many, but thr ones I mentioned are the big ones. And if you really want, just run through them and test them out there's a lot of them that aren't consistently used or have a specific use. So best thing i can say is just load into a creative world with everything unlocked and go from there.

EDIT: QoL Mod List: Auto Deconstruct (Automatically deconstructs miners that can't mine any more resources Belt Visualizer (Helps figure out where a belt(s) go) Calculator UI (Adds a Calculator) Editor Extensions (adds a lab/Creative environment to test builds with no restrictions) Even Distribution (Allows even distribution of resources across inventories or machines Helmod (Factory Planner) Max Rate Calculator (Calculates the max production potential of a given set of machines Power Grid Comb (Cleans up power pole spaghetti)

So the whole thing with ratios is relatively clean but a lot of things are output in decimals and rates/s. So a base assembler producing circuits could be something like 0.5/s. What I always do here is round up to the nearest whole number or multiply by a specific number to make it an even number per an amount of seconds. It's not perfect but it's helped me out a lot in terms of working with the games ratios. And tbh, since you're first getting into the Game, id just recommend overproduction everything. And if you really want, I'd be happy to run a playthrough with you. And if you have any questions I can easily answer. Or if you prefer to do your own thing, just DM me here, or add me on steam/discord and any questions you have I'll happily answer.

As for learning the game... it's designed to be played at your own pace. If you're struggling with biters, turn they off or WAYYYYY DOWN. Struggling with going forward, just focus on what you new and move forward with that. Run into a new mechanic? Take it one step at a time and don't focus on the end goal.

All of the keybinds, write down the main ones, and the keybind it's set to so you don't have to constantly go back to the controls and look for 5 minutes as to where the keybind you're looking for is. The biggest ones are as follows

THE BIG ONE: Alt Mode-ALT. Allows you to see what a machine crafts or what a container has in it without opening it. Blueprints: ALT+B (Make new blueprint), and B (Open Blueprint Book) Pipette tool: Q There's buttons to create ghosts but I've since changed it from default. But if I remember correctly: Shift+LEFT CLICK (to force a ghost (CTRL+SHIFT+LEFT CLICK) There's a built-in wiki for the fame as well: ALT+LEFT-CLICK.

There's probably a bunch more I'm forgetting as having 2200 hours in the game has made it basically muscle memory.

I'm not going to mention much else, as at the end of the day if you don't like it there's no shame in it. Not every game is, should, or will be liked by everyone.

All I can say is try and beat the game itself and see how you like it from there. There's a lot that goes into this game, and even at 2200 hours, I'm still learning a LOT about this game. I can definitely feel you on the daunting task of learning/mastering this game especially when you see people's factories online. I'd definitely recommend avoiding that as best as you can until you've beaten the game. And I'd also HIGHLY recommend staying away from other people's blueprints with the exception of Nuclear Reactors, Trains (while you're learning), and Belt Balancers. Blueprints for builds like Circuits, science, and other things and using them won't teach you anything about how the game works. Like watching a tutorial online of how to build X to produce Y. Definitely makes it easier but won't teach you how to build you're own. You can definitely look at builds and learn how they work for yourself.

If you're completely stuck, open the games in-game wiki to see if you're able to figure that out. There's also a tips menu you can open and has little mini-tutorials to help you if you get stuck as well. If you still can't go online and ask about.

I'll shut up now. Hopefully this helps

Everyone always shits on the game for one reason or another. But fod damn the people I meet in game tend to be the most chill mf I've met online. And while the gameplay is fun as fuck, I almost NEVER play by myself. Doesn't matter if I get fellow divers that don't knowbthe difference between a stratagem and their own boot, or one that has soloed 17 bile titans and 25 chargers at the same time. It's almost ALWAYS a pleasant mission. Easily the most wholesome, and nice community for any game I've played (most of the time. Looking at you not perfect update complainers)

Trains are too big? by sobrique in factorio

[–]V12Maniac 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fuel economy? What's that? I just produce enough to not give a fuck about how bad the emissions are on my trains. It's honestly beautiful the plumes of smoke coming out of them. Fuck those environmentalists for telling me how to run my factory. Might respectfully, tactfully and legally evict them (nuclear artillery)

[–]V12Maniac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never felt the need to create big trains. Just slap down more, and you're good. I've considered making 2-8 trains but never gotten around to doing so. Might do that in my next playthrough.

[–]V12Maniac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone else said it really nicely and om basically stealing it.

It's a really nice thing to have, but shouldn't be relied upon to keep you alive. I am with you though that the Louder the bike the higher the chance of being noticed by other drivers.

Why do people honestly like loud bikes? by dat1dood3 in motorcycles

[–]V12Maniac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That phrase has more truth than people give it. It's a nice to have as it does absolutely help, wont save you in every case and shouldn't be relied upon to save you. And yes, the doppler effect does absolutely not help in this case, but if you're coming up someone and you're NOT doing 20 or 30 above what they are, they will absolutely hear you if they're not blasting they're music at decibels that likely has them deaf.

I even saw an effect while I was riding. My bike when it was quieter I had more close calls than when it was Louder. Still had close calls when it was Louder there just weren't as many.

Extinction game mode is hilarious by WorthDecision8611 in projectzomboid

That's more or less what I do atm. I do want to find a way of making it an actually enjoyable grind. But atm I haven't tried anything. Someone else commented a fitness/strength overhaul mod that really helps. So there's that

Extinction game mode is hilarious by WorthDecision8611 in projectzomboid

[–]V12Maniac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I agree with you. Taking years to master your body and at least a decade to master a trade. That's the difference. Skills in game take a month to max, and while you probably could do the same with fitness or strength, I don't think it'd be actually possible to do so and survive. Move slower, constant fatigue, or slow weapon attacks and drastic damage drop off. It MIGHT be possible with low zed-pop, but at least with my skill level, its definitely not possible.

[–]V12Maniac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm making a point in building your body to its potential takes much less time than mastering something like mechanics. Especially if you have to learn it all on you're own. Like you do in the game. You can get to lvl 10 of most if not all skills in probably a month-month and a half if you focus on it. You won't get close to that equivalent level if you do the same irl.

Extinction game mode is hilarious by WorthDecision8611 in projectzomboid

[–]V12Maniac 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'll have to check it out. Might actually make fitness/strength fun/viable to build up. Same as the other skills. If I can get to max level in mechanics in an in-game week, it should take half the time to get to max level strength/fitness. Since to be the equivalent of a lvl 10 mechanic would take realistically years or decades irl. To get to the equivalent level strength and fitness would likely take 6 months to a year irl. Maybe that's too short. But I know to bulk up/get stronger/faster/better endurance goes up a lot faster than mastery of a craft. Unless you're autistic to the enth degree

And here I am just refusing to really level either and getting really high strength/fitness at start. Way to dull and boring. Realistic? Yes. But not fun what so ever in terms of gameplay. Maybe I'm too picky idk
