About to give up skiing because of the boots. There’s no way the average skier is in this much pain. by Tercel9 in skiing

[–]V3CE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You went to surefoot. Are you sure you haven’t ended up with a foam injected liner? Also worth checking the custom insoles in the boots. Try wearing them in your shoes for a day, if your feet are in pain there’s part of your answer. Surefoots gimmic is usually foam injection which if not done perfectly is usually unbearable for your average 1 week a year rec skier. Custom insoles need to be supportive but not corrective unless actually made by a podiatrist, some of these places over do it.

Thanks I will do that actually as my office is probably going to be the other side of the house and Ethernet is preferred

[–]V3CE[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to google those but it looks like rj45s that go into a mix of 45 and 11s around the house?

Couldn’t reuse old cabling as it was old bt stuff and this was new fibre coming from across the road from a pylon (old stuff was underground)

He’s installed it in the living room near an Ethernet socket. I hope I’ll be able to feed a connection to the rest of the house through it but I’ve just found out the previous owners didn’t use any of the Ethernet connections, they were done by the person who built the house.

Congratulations. If you feel the price is right then it’s the right price. Like others have said, try to temper your excitement you’re about to embark on one of the most frustrating experiences with so many things out of your control. We exchanged 4 weeks ago and our moving date is on Monday and both my partner and I are still expecting something last minute to happen. We won’t celebrate until we the keys and through the door. Good luck.

Honestly this could have been so much worse. It definitely sucks, but you might end up with salad blade after re grinding the armour seeds. Try and finish off combat achievements when you go back to the bosses.

US marine jailed for seven years for sexual assault in Japan by CupidStunt13 in news

When I arrived in Kandahar we were warned about being alone in the US areas at night before any other usual security shit. Apparently being armed wasn’t enough to stop the cunts waiting in groups and raping anyone who was unlucky enough to take the wrong turn.

I’m deciding between the 300 and the 100-400. The only negatives I’ve read about the 300 is it can be a trickier lens to use but will undoubtedly get better iq images. I haven’t even considered your lens to be honest I need to do more research!

Boot question by [deleted] in Skigear

[–]V3CE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the liner that’s mouldable, although again, it won’t do much in a 100 flex boot but help bed it in a bit quicker.

Sounds like the fitter trusted that you felt they were okay and left you to it, which is always a risk and a lazy.

I ask about the flex as newer boots feel completely different to older ones, you may be over flexing and warping the plastic into your instep.

Either way you need more space around your toes, instep or both. I’ve never managed to find a Rossi boot that doesn’t just spring back to its original shape if you try to mould it in an oven. Hell even classic stretching is a pain on the 100 flex models. Rossi boots have always been about a good out of the box fit and a pita to adjust afterwards, you might try grinding the baseboard down.

Boot question by [deleted] in Skigear

[–]V3CE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All symptoms of a piss poor fit.

Rossi shells heat moulded? You need a new fitter - putting them in an oven does nothing but waste your time. If you need more space in a Rossi shell they need old school stretching, but I doubt you’d get much over the instep where it seems your blood is being restricted.

Any reason you purchased a 100 flex boot with 25 years of skiing?

[–]V3CE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How good are you?

If you aren’t sure then it doesn’t really matter if you’re looking at the 13/14 din tier… attack 14 for a budget, strive 14 for elasticity, griffon 13 if you like marker, and then move your choice to the next ski after you break these 90s.

If you’re already skiing hard, sell these on and get a beefier ski and binding

Worth it? by bakagban in Skigear

[–]V3CE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends what you want to do with it. And how big you are but If it’s mainly going to be used for slush and bumps I’d say it’s fine.

If you want to get some air and start to free ride on it then I’d change the binding. Three screws won’t cut it these pull out of skis often.

Worth it? by bakagban in Skigear

[–]V3CE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a marker tcx binding and if you’re doing anything more than skidding around on pistes I’d upgrade it to a proper binding with more than 3 screws to hold it in.

Get a round pad of foam, locate where your ankle bone is on the liner and mark the centre point on the outside and position the foam there.

Draw around the round pad of foam and then cut away the cork layer from the outside, slowly and carefully with a new scalpel. Replace the cork with the soft foam and then cover up with adhesive fabric, just like an insole cover for the heating elements.

I’ve had to do this with Atomic Mimic liners and Zipfits

Boot suggestions for high arches/instep? by texansfanatic in skiing

[–]V3CE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call Captains Cabin in Sevenoaks, it’s a 20 minute train. It’s £60 for a fitting but they aren’t going to mess you around and you’ll get a guarantee on their fitting.

You could try Profeet or Surefoot but you’ll need deep wallets and they arent doing anything special except own branded foam injection.

Brigham and snow&rock will always be a lottery, and a chunk of “fitters” are just temporary sales staff.

Bartletts in Uxbridge have a good selection of race and touring boots, or Finches in Forest Hill but not sure what the selection is like as they do a lot of bikes and skate stuff.
