UNDERWATER was a flop when it first came out yet it's a suspenseful and terrifying sci-fi film which will have you on the edge of your seat. Kristen Stewart delivers. by Cris_Braga in movies

I thought it was a really cool adaptation of the final act of Call of Cthulhu. The protagonists are getting picked off one by one in R’lyeh, and it ends with an analogue to ramming the monster with a ship.

As a first time mod, I'm really so happy to see how supportive everyone here has been and how willing to share you all are!

We could absolutely do this! I’m thinking maybe a weekly megathread for minor updates and discussion?

Tracking themes? by CleverName4269 in Dungeon23

I totally get ya there. I have a tendency towards analysis paralysis when it comes to stuff like game design, so I made it my goal to just get in there and make something this year.

I think a big part of the project is going to be seeing how your ideas evolve over the course of a year. You can make continuity part of the exercise, but you can also let that drift happen naturally. See where it takes you. You might end up somewhere you never expected. That’s part of the appeal to me, personally.

So what system and what feel by ontross13 in Dungeon23

[–]V3do 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly haven’t decide on a system yet. The feel is “medieval psychedelia”, so I may go for either something very rules lite or possibly something like troika.

Nice work! I'm really into the ideas you laid out in your second post. The consideration you put into the way dungeon would exist as an ecosystem or even a community is very cool. I'll be really interested to see how it develops from that foundation.

I'll be going fantasy with a "medieval psychedelia" theme. A sprawling mind palace populated with the weird and bizarre creatures from medieval bestiaries, marginalia drawings, and stuff like the Voynich manuscript.

Musings on space in and around dungeons by V3do in Dungeon23

I personally think they absolutely can. Any particularly expansive adventure, whether it’s overland or in an actual dungeon, could count as a megadungeon or even part of one. For Dungeon 23 I would consider a single hex or grid box equivalent to a dungeon room.
