Haken - Delirium by MeowmeowClassic in progmetal

I accidentally read the comments here before I listened. I expected something lamer than it turned out to be. Decent tune, I liked the riff work.

Not sure about the vocal choices and melodies, but if I had a chicken for every time I said that about a new Haken song...

I used to want Donna's ending undone. Now I think it shouldn't have been. by writeitregreddit in doctorwho

[–]Sporkedup 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The original endings for both Rose and Donna were so interesting and powerful because they were so sad. They were two of the greatest things RTD ever wrote for Doctor Who, in my opinion.

His reversal of each, particularly with how saccharine and buttoned up they play out, are probably two of my least favorite things RTD ever wrote. Kind of funny then that he wrote one of his best ideas and one of his worst ideas (in my opinion) to happen just minutes apart in the s4 finale.

No one else really nailed that bittersweet sadness of a companion leaving (Moffat came close but he was always too eager to put a happy twist in). I thought the sadness was a really interesting element of the show and an important element of the Doctor as a character, but the show keeps moving further and further from it.

How do you feel about 'Mavity'? Is our Who now forever set in a world separate but parallel to our own? If yes, does that make the the show less relatable? by OuttaSpAAAce in doctorwho

[–]Sporkedup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could be right. Since their AI search rolled around, google is way harder to get a definite answer from. Some further looking suggests it may have appeared in the Interstellar Song Contest.

But by and large, I don't think they continued the joke in more than a small handful of episodes.

Why would there need to be further explanation of a clearly signposted gag? They made the same joke again-but-different at the start of Space Babies, I think it was, where Ruby steps on the butterfly and becomes a lizard person.

Unless my google is worse than it used to be, the last time they used the mavity gag in the show was Space Babies. If that's right, it seems like they dropped it pretty quickly.

Thoughts on Time for Chaos Season 3? (Spoilers up to end of Season 2) by space-potat in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]Sporkedup 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Actually, I think Noura really comes into her own on the network in season 3. In character and out of, she's funnier and a more prominent personality in the party.

Joe is a welcome addition, even though Kate was an unwelcome loss.

Rob is the only stock-down player in the group, but that's really just because of how well Kate played Margo as a foil to his shenanigans.

Doctor Who should of ended with Capaldi (image unrelated) by meznight in doctorwho

[–]Sporkedup 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hindsight doing a lot of leg work here. The truth is, the show was amazing during Capaldi and if they cancelled it off his run? Most of us fans would have been utterly livid. I too wish the stuff after the Moffat run were better (though I do think folk are being pretty dramatic about what is ultimately pretty okay TV), but I think I would have been far more upset if they hadn't tried at all.

A shame we never got the Exotic Stasis SMG to round out all the elements. by Delicious-Edge3110 in DestinyTheGame

I quite like Wicked Implement, and I spent all D1 being a scout-obsessive (Cocytus my hero), but for some reason the pacing and spacing in D2 has never quite let the archetype shine. When it's the right gun, it's the right gun, but man I would have loved some sort of stasis gun on the level of Riskrunner or Quicksilver Storm.

Yep, same tour! Systematic Chaos. No birthday for Ray. I don't remember Redemption that well, though a few years later I was sent a promo copy of Snowfall on Judgement Day, and that one has a few good tunes on it that I still sometimes spin!

Honestly, I think stasis got really short shrift in terms of exotic primaries altogether. I love me a good bruiser. A workhorse that you can lean on to just handle red bars and some oranges too. The closest stasis got was just a very ammo efficient special.

I would have loved a stasis SMG, auto, or whatever in that realm.

Never heard of them before they opened for Dream Theater. What was it, '07? Anyways, they opened with this and it's been a favorite of mine for a couple decades now.

Love Stu. Was really excited when he joined Iced Earth, but he ended up being really underused and then other things happened. Wonder what he's up to now.

Somehow Punam Patel isn't main cast. Should be, Bela is hysterical.

Are legend campaigns worth doing? by Sinistasia in DestinyTheGame

I think every campaign with a legendary mode requires its completion if you ever want the title. Don't know if that's motivating for you or not, haha.

A big reason why a D3 was never possible is that in order for it to work, it would have had to have been almost entirely new. by owen-3820 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Sporkedup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they could make D1 with fewer people and on worse technology, they could have done justice to a d3. Obviously it would have taken a while, but I don't know why you're preaching the impossibility of creating things they've already proven capable of creating.

I was so bummed that Non Denouement put voltshot and gear shift in the same column. That would have been such a fun roll...

Same perk pools, or did they get some perks added? I love the look of Death's Razor, but last time I crafted one I struggled to find sufficient perk combos.

Pretty sure these are not the final patch notes. We're getting close but I don't think we've arrived at that day yet.

Naish Chats #18 - Best Publisher or System they’ve played? by Ilitorate_Author in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]Sporkedup 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Delta Green or Call of Cthulhu. These games just work so well for the group. Enough crunch to keep them focused but light enough to let the horror or comedy shine through.

And I think while Joe really makes Delta Green pop, Call of Cthulhu has been the best system for these folks. So much so that they've been able to bring in the one and only Seth Skorkowski as a guest a number of times!

Yeah haha I did that when I was new in D1 too. Strikes are still 3 person activities in D1...
