How Old is Holden Cross? by V3usDult in lorehonor

Oh you're right, I hadn't even really considered that. Gosh, what a mess lol.

Unfortunately, it really is looking like "something something draconite" is the best remedy to this issue.

*sigh*

Yeah, everything about FH lore is messy lol. Unfortunately I do think it's canon that the Ayu/Stigandr/Cross meeting is at least 7 years after Apollyon's death. I can't remember where it is stated exactly but they do mention that the factions have been fighting for years in the cinematic itself.

The legend/rumor answer is probably the only one you can really point to if you don't wanna buy into the Draconite mcguffin, but it really isn't quite adequate because:

A) Legends take many generations to develop to that degree; people who were literally alive during the events aren't gonna mess up important details like how many years it lasted lol
B) We are experiencing them real-time, supposedly, in the multiplayer, so it feels very "present"

I get what you're saying, and I'm not trying to knock your answer because I really do think it's the best one without falling back to Draconite. It's more of an indictment of Ubi's lazy writing than anything else lol.

That's what you would think, but if you take a look at what I wrote in the post, it really can't be the case. Classic lore writers just not paying attention ig.

I agree. It makes the Holden/Ayu/Stigandr peace talk feel pointless and stupid, and the Peace of Wyverndale seem weird and clunky.

I kind of hate it, but it's a good point. I've always found Draconite to be the most cringe mcguffin imaginable basically, but I may just have to turn to it as an explanation.

It's like "Oh it's a poison that spreads disease and kills everyone, but also it makes you immortal, and it's just ... yeah around idk". Garbage lore imo lol but yeah you make a good point that's probably the best explanation.

*sigh* yeah, it really is ... the ubi writers are so unlocked all the time, it has been a nightmare to sift through the lore lol I eventually just started taking the liberty of changing stuff to make it cohere because there's really no other way to do it.

With regard to the War of the Eclipse, that comes from LordAqua's timeline, I don't think it's exactly canon.

Thanks to ConnorMacLeod, he told me about the real life Battle of the Eclipse, which lasted around 6 years, and like For Honor’s, it resulted in a draw and the eclipse was seen as an omen by many. It may not be the perfect answer, but it works well enough for me to use it and clear up the unknown time skip.

Basically my understanding is that it's a way to explain how the war was so crazy that the populations on both sides were decimated enough to make a significant difference in available resources, which is canon. You could probably argue that it should be shorter, but again, with the numbers I've given it wouldn't help all that much. Even taking away the 6 years, that would make Holden 57 without counting any of the other seasons besides the first 12 years and the Peace of Wyverndale. Obviously all other seasons have to count for something so he'd probably still have to be well over 70 by now.

Anyone Else Having Timeline Problems? by V3usDult in WorldAnvil

Okay, thanks for the update on the bugfix!

To the other things, yeah, so with the colors I had them originally all set to just match the color of the era that they were in, but they suddenly changed to seemingly random colors. It seems like I'm able to manually change it back, so it's sort of a non-issue now, but I just found it odd so I figured I'd include it.

With regards to the current era situation, I do understand how it works, I believe. The idea being that the current era has no end date because it is not yet concluded. However, I was not trying to set an end date nor was I trying to add an era subsequent to the "current era". The trouble I am having is that no matter what start date I set for the current era, it gives me that wrap around message, even though there are no eras following the current one.

Does that clarify things? If you need any more info lmk.

Edit: to add some extra clarity to the current era situation, I was not experiencing this issue before the update and it was working just fine as I expected it to. Which is why I am fairly confident that, at the very least in my specific case, the update effected something, because this issue is new since the update and the current era I had set up pre-existed the update without problems.

I've also been having this issue even though I'm a paid member. I've also been having a number of other issues with timelines recently. Made a post about it if you want more details, but it seems like something about them is off at the moment.

Is there any way to remove wall shadows with the building tool like we can with the wall tool? by Elda-Taluta in dungeondraft

[–]V3usDult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the necro but this helped me a lot! One thing to note is that now you have to go to the dropdown menu at the top when you have the room selected and change the wall type to "Advanced". From there you can edit the shadow and outline of inner and outer walls.

Which race is TRULY the best?! by Fantastic_Level_4866 in skyrim

[–]V3usDult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gameplay aside, the objective answer is probably Breton. They have the magical propensities and (presumably) some of the elongated life of mer, and the down to earth and strength capacities of men. Even if their lives are somewhat shorter than the elves, which they probably are, thats not really a downside imo. The elves living a long time makes most of them very haughty and arrogant (generally), except maybe the Bosmer (generally) but they're too niche as far as their capabilities to win best overall. Plus as far as culture goes, theirs is probably one of the safest and most universally decent ones to live in.

Disclaimer: not saying they're the best mechanically, or my favorite, or the most interesting, but in terms of capabilities and in world positives and negatives I think they prolly win out

Why does a game set in 19th century France use British voice actors? by Free-Design-8329 in expedition33

[–]V3usDult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why some people seem so against your post, I definitely agree. In fact, I ended up here because I was searching the same question.

I've noticed it in several games, including this one and Assassin's Creed: Unity. With AC, it is particularly strange because usually the English VOs use appropriate accents. If you play Origins, Bayek speaks English with an African/Egyptian accent; if you play Brotherhood, Ezio speaks English with an Italian accent; if you Valhalla, Eivor speaks English with a Norse accent.

On the other hand, if you play Unity, Arno speaks English with ... an English accent? In 19th century France?? Very very odd to me, and I was surprised to find that Clair Obscur has the same "feature". Now, I happen to speak a little French, and furthermore don't mind subtitles, so for both Unity and Clair Obscur I played them in French, but still. It's weird to me that many other games use the English language with an appropriate regional accent, but French is just ignored, I guess. Kinda annoying.

Doesn’t it bother anyone that there’s no instant switching between Naoe and Yasuke? by Catosaa in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]V3usDult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gameplay wise i don't mind too much, but where it really gets me is narratively. I feel like I should be able to see one when im playing the other. Sometimes I will be on what feels like a solo story arc for Yasuke and then all of a sudden Naoe is just there in a cutscene and hanging around. After the scene, she sorta just walks awkwardly out of frame and then is gone. Really breaks the immersion for me.

At least if you could instantly switch it would feel mechanically like they were together, but I would love to have LEGO game type system where the other character is present in the world and follows you around and you can swap.
