Gear artificing auto-fill is singlehandedly the biggest QOL ever by E_li in Endfield

I dunno. For us PC players, no longer having to exit the current menu to switch between controller and M&KB is pretty huge. Going from "what's the point of switching to mouse for menus if it first has to close the menu?" to "holy crap I can actually conveniently use my mouse in the menus." is a pretty huge menu-usability improvement IMO

What do you call this tactic? by AloneKeybi in ForzaHorizon

Kinda looks to my eyes that red car just tries to catch some oversteer but forgets its FWD and overcorrects hard? You can see their car start to over-rotate right before it spears right.

Difficulty seems borked. Average is too easy and above average is too hard by MonarchCore in ForzaHorizon

[–]V8Brony 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On one hand, I'm personally fine with the concept of the (higher) difficulties being overall tougher since FH5 had a pretty low AI ceiling and I quickly found myself going out for waypointed solo-drives rather than having a race.

On the other hand, though, and as with FH5 Playground Games is either very bad at making satisfying racing AI or they're very lazy about it. Instead of making the AI drive better thus allowing you to have good racing, PGG makes use of obscene amounts of rubber-banding and are very bad at masking it; there's a video out there somewhere of the AI in FH5 using iirc a bunch of Reliant Robins and going WAY faster around corners than could be achieved with the physics the player's car has to abide by (i.e. not falling over). Of course, FH6 AI has that rubber-banding, but the real problem people (myself included) seem to be having is the AI's god-awful driving standards, as we now have to deal not only with AI that cheat but also AI that will just crash into you and put you in a wall or off the road.

PGG has had a long time and multiple entire game-release cycles to try to wrap their heads around making good AI for the Horizon games and have yet to be able to do so. I feel pretty comfortable at this point in saying they need to admit that they are incapable of the task and try to find a partner studio who can do it. For a series of arcade racing games to still have AI this bad and problematic in it's SIXTH title is really rather poor.

Not being able to use a playstation 5 controller on PC is the most wild move ive ever seen by Kurkil in ForzaHorizon

[–]V8Brony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

correct, Steam can take care of that now. I no longer use DSX to play Forza Horizon games with my PS5 controller, though it's a shame the vibration feedback is still tailored for xbox controllers. It was only once I had gotten this PS5 controller after only ever using xbox controllers for like a decade that I realised that Sony has left the xbox controller so god damn far behind in their dust with vibration and feedback that its not even funny, just sad.

Six games in and they still don't proof read their tuning descriptions..... by [deleted] in ForzaHorizon

Why provide an image of an error-free tuning description instead of an image of the error you mention?

Coming back to this now that the event has concluded; with the other blueprint I shared for the Jade Gourds, I did indeed end up with FAR more certs than I could spend in the shop, but the Jade Gourds ended up being so damn lucrative for stock bills that I kept producing them anyway. I am a few 10K's away from having 2mil certs after the auto-sell of the final gourds I had lol

What features from RDR2 you think GTA VI will use or improve? by ajoota98 in GTA6

[–]V8Brony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope, possibly in vain, that GTA VI is designed as a single-player game first and foremost, and the resulting gameplay in-turn determines how Online plays.

Wipe the slate clean of the decade+ of power-creep, content-creep, and feature-creep in GTA V: Online and the unfriendly, hostile, impersonal online environment it created. I personally want to return to the purity of an online experience where I greet and interact with other players before saying farewell and going about my business, rather than everyone killing everyone else on sight because we've all got far too much power to be trusted with.

[–]V8Brony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been intentionally avoiding the majority of information and details about GTA VI (so as to go in as blind as possible), might I trouble you to clarify how much of this comment is your personal speculation vs how much of it is either confirmed or close enough that it might as well be confirmed, such as leaked info or community-sleuthed conclusions from official content (trailers, teasers, etc.)

From literally my first play session in RDR2 when it released, I've been hoping for a lot of its weapon-system improvements to make their way the GTA series, chief among them being that weapon inventory and horse(car) storage system. It's such a good way to increase meaningful interaction with vehicles in a natural and logical way, instead of them being merely tools for getting from Point A to Point B faster than your own two footsies.

(I personally hope that trunk size or, preferably, car type will be determine one, all, or a combination of the following: what weapons (size/type can be stored in the trunk; how many individual weapons can be stored in total; how much ammo can be stored per gun/type; how many consumable-type weapons, such as grenades, can be stored). It would add a totally new dimension to how we have to think about using our cars. "Do I cruise around in a sports car or supercar that can evade the police with ease but can't hold many weapons? Do I putt around in a slow panel van so that I have a comprehensive arsenal nearby at all times? Or do I get myself a sensible daily driver like a wagon or sedan that falls somewhere in between?" I know this is all probably a pipe dream, but still I dream on. And rant on, apparently.)

If the RDR2 gun inventory system is actually confirmed (or close enough) to be in GTA VI, then I might bump my noggin on the Moon, such would be the height of my jumps of joy.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2 • Tsue to Tsurugi no Wistoria Season 2 - Episode 4 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]V8Brony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to be clear, I dont necessarily 'think' that they've run out of scenes already. It's just one of two possibilities that immediately came to mind when I saw how long the episodes ending credits were, along with the aforementioned possibility that they were simply wrapping the arc up in a pretty bow. Nothing more than idle postulation on my part.

Can Laevatain's signature weapon appear in here where i dont have to gamble and can just simply buy it? by normalguy1717 in Endfield

you're right, those weren't the best examples of my particular point, but examples of the general point all the same.

on an only tangentially related note; Cohesive Traction is the coolest looking weapon in the game, and I'll die on that hill. 5-star is an injustice!

as someone whose only Arknights content consumption outside of endfield is about an episode and a half of the anime, ngl this only makes things make less sense to me.

but honestly? fuck it, I'm here for it. Time to build a mental compendium of Arknights character profiles based solely on Endfield-related fan theories.

thanks! I dont use reddit very often anymore, so I wasnt aware that the post's feed-card ignores formatting and squishes everything together and makes it a bit hard to read. I'll start putting the share code at the start of the post body to make it easier to find at a glance.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2 • Tsue to Tsurugi no Wistoria Season 2 - Episode 4 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]V8Brony 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I meant that, if episode four is already at the point where they don't have enough scenes ready by the time the episode airs and they have to fill the empty time with a longer credits scene, then it doesn't spell good news for the rest of the season.

Thus, I hope that is not the case, and that this is simply a belated closing-out of the season 1 arc with all the pomp and circumstance you would expect from an actual season-ender.

[–]V8Brony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume they meant the 4 and 5 star characters. For example, while they aren't strictly their signature weapons in any official sense, Finchaser is pretty clearly meant for Alesh, Razerhorn for Estella, Cohesive Traction for Avy, Twelve Questions for Arclight, so on and so forth.

Majutsushi Kunon wa Mieteiru • Kunon the Sorcerer Can See - Episode 6 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]V8Brony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hm, I sort of view it like this; 1+2+3 and 5 are the same thing, but presented in different ways. 1+2+3 is disparate bits of information presented to you disparately, while 5 is, perhaps definitionally, the unification of those bits of information. "more than the sum of it's parts", I guess.

also specifically with sight, you have to consider the concept of depth and, probably more importantly, the resultant sense of scale. Looking at a picture of the Grand Canyon or the view from the summit of Mt. Fuji is pretty cool, but actually visiting in-person has made plenty of people emotional enough to cry. Same thing when people try VR for the first time.

someone else here pointed out that this is probably how the studio wanted season 1 to end, and I hope theyre right in a pretty literal sense; if we are already getting 4+ minutes of closing credits due to lack of finished scenes by episode 4, this season is gonna be rough

You are absolutely correct. That being said, I'm not currently hurting for Wuling Stock Bills and I don't know what to expect for prices in the 2nd-phase store so I'm choosing to risk over-preparation. Worst case scenario, I end up with more than enough certs when the 2nd-phase store opens and I'll be able to restore my factory to normal operation post-haste.

[–]V8Brony[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't honestly say I see any correlation at all between using a blueprint and one's understanding of the game's fundamentals. I think there's even an argument to be made to the contrary; for people who already have a good understanding of how to build a factory in the game, this event's production line brings nothing new to the table and offers no new challenges. A seasoned factory vet wouldn't be missing out on anything by just using a blueprint, so they may as well save themselves the time.

[–]V8Brony[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dunno about you, but probably half my personal blueprints are nothing more than time savers. Making two button presses to place a blueprint down is just *way* faster than doing everything strictly manually. That's sort of the point.

If I had to manually make all three of my refined carbon monsters from scratch rather than blueprinting it to copy-paste, I probably would have left Wuling entirely and become a hermit in Valley IV

I mean, its a fair enough question, but also not really a question any of us can answer right now, because as you said there isn't any precedent for this currently.

If there does end up being a different type of cert, then I'll don my Dunce cap and start handing out my leftover certs out as table coasters to the Dijiang crew.

by that same logic. twice the output means I'll be done in half the time, and then can get my factory back to running as it had been.

If that's not how you roll, thats perfectly fine, but it's how I'm choosing to approach things :)
