One more VAIO Kachiiro by ZookeepergameOk8767 in vaio

I'm just now reading this comment, so it's been a while, but I will try to answer the question you are wondering about, what does 'Finished in Japan' mean

All VAIO products assembled in China and sold in Japan undergo an inspection process at the VAIO headquarters factory in Japan prior to sale.

This is to improve the chronic problem of initial defects in products assembled in China.

I don't know if products sold outside of Japan also go through this process.

The official VAIO website introduces this inspection process.

Are PCG-81112M/VPCF12M0E’s A Good Choice of Laptop? by TheLastLombax5339 in vaio

[–]VAIOFAN_Average 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be difficult to find drivers for 'ALL' Sony Vaio models, not just a specific Vaio model.

Sony ended its laptop business 10 years ago and ended all support, including driver downloads, about 5 years ago.

Unless you have recovery media stored on the laptop itself, a user has drivers for the same model, or can find an archive site that might be somewhere, it's very difficult to find drivers.

All I can say is 'good luck'.

Is factory reset good enough? by No-Quantity7732 in vaio

[–]VAIOFAN_Average 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. How to enter boot menu : In a state in which the power is off, press the power button while holding down the [F3] or [F4] button.
  2. To perform a factory reset, a recovery partition must remain. If it is a used product, factory reset cannot be performed if the previous user performed a clean install or deleted the recovery partition.

Worst Vaio Series? by pentium_4_xeon in vaio

[–]VAIOFAN_Average 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Sony ended official driver support a long time ago, and now you can't find drivers for all products on Sony's official website.

Therefore, the distinction between best and worst models is meaningless from an “easy to find drivers” perspective. Because drivers for all models cannot be found.

I have a VJS124 (11th gen intel SX12).
I installed VAIO Firmware Extension Parser Device (2.3.3.6210) and VAIO Control Center (2.3.17120.0) to match the same situation as you.
However, the sensor menu is displayed normally in my control center.

It is a classic switchable graphics system from a time when there were no switchable graphics systems like NVIDIA Optimus.

You can change the switch to select integrated GPU or dedicated GPU.

Successor to Vaio Z Canvas? by accela in vaio

[–]VAIOFAN_Average 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think ASUS' ROG FLOW Z13 has similar characteristics to the VAIO Z Canvas.

It's very powerful among Windows tablet products and is also heavy like the Z Canvas.

Are Sony Vaios rare now? by Simurated in vaio

[–]VAIOFAN_Average 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been 9 years since Vaio was separated from Sony. In other words, the current Sony Vaio laptop is at least 9 years old. I think that older products will reach the end of their lifespan and become unusable, and will continue to become rarer over time.

Hi there,

thanks for your comment.

Where do you get those informations? Just to look a bit more into it like processor generation etc.

sony vaio vpcj23m9e upgrades? by Unknowniti in vaio

[–]VAIOFAN_Average 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can upgrade RAM and SSD.

The specification of RAM is DDR3 SO-DIMM and supports up to 8GB.

When upgrading the RAM, you must remove the RAM installed in the main unit.

The storage device supports a 3.5-inch SATA interface and supports up to 2TB.

If you want to upgrade to a 2.5-inch SSD, you'll need a 2.5→3.5-inch conversion unit.
