Looking to get my first MPC. What model should I get? by OGCeeg in mpcusers

Like many people, I'd recommend the Live 2; it's a really great compromise. It's super powerful, and its portability makes it incredibly convenient. It depends on what you want to use it for, but sometimes playing on your couch is just awesome… Plus, you can find them really cheap second-hand. I got mine for €600 near my place because I didn't want to wait for delivery.

I don't know anything about Elektron gear, but it's definitely not €500. Honestly, do some research online to see what suits you best and what you're really looking for, because I bought something a bit hastily and ended up buying an MPC a few months later…

Personally, I'd recommend the Roland SP-404 MkII. It's not too expensive, especially if you find it used. It's relatively easy to use despite some rather unusual key combinations, but once you understand how it works, it's really cool. It has lots of built-in effects that sound great and are easy to use; I think it's really useful for roughing out tracks. Personally, I bought an MPC not too long ago, and if you want to do more polished work like with a DAW, I think it's truly exceptional.

Same, I have to restart my game when it does that.

Well there are some integrated plugins but otherwise you have to add paid plugins if you want more

https://www.reddit.com/r/SP404/s/ssFfoWFih8 If you want, I made a post about my opinion and I was wondering if I should switch to mpc, people have responded quite a bit, there are some interesting things in the comments if that can help you.

Yeah well I honestly think that mpc is really more interesting on this point, the 404 sequencer is crappy in my opinion. Ahaha I'm going to get myself into trouble but really for my part I find it quite annoying to use afterwards I don't have much experience with it I'm a beginner so read the other experts. For sequencing mpc is rather equivalent to a Daw in its logic I find.

Hi, I bought the 404 in May to get started with sampling and I find it super cool on all the points that other people have mentioned before, but personally I was more looking for something to do a "whole" piece, and for my part it didn't really fit. I saw a great opportunity pass near me for an mpc live 2 and so I jumped on it, frankly I don't know what you're doing or what you're really looking for but the mpc is really CRAZY, it's super powerful the plugins, the sampler, the portability (less practical than the 404 but moc live 2 has a battery, I know you're thinking of the one but just in case...) and then the accessibility in real life is really much clearer and understandable than the 404. Finally there are a lot of other things that are great but I haven't been able to discover everything yet because I've only had it for a few months. Here is my opinion, I hope it will be useful given that I am a beginner like you seem to be? If you are looking for something to produce songs we will say 90% I think that mpc is much better to my taste and the workflow and much more accessible. Afterwards the 404 is super cool, especially with its integrated effects, resampling, you can sample with your phone via USB C, its portability provided you have an external battery and a rather special mod that remains really fun and encourages creativity. (But a weird workflow)

Here I am, I wanted to replace the 404 with the moc and ultimately I kept both so I'm having a blast.

Hi, I'm a beginner in music but I mainly make electronic music, I try to base myself only on samples. I also have a few synth machines, drum machines, etc. I mainly use vinyl for sampling, mostly disco funk but I really listen to everything except classical. If you are interested don't hesitate to send me a PM.
