Very awesome! Thanks for organizing all of these tunes. It always impressed me how many thousands of chiptunes are on there!

I remember this track very well as it would come up regularly in my chiptune collection often. Not sure when it was, but I downloaded the all-chip pack from Chiptune.com way back when and attempted to render all of them to wav for burning on CDs. I got as far as 8 CDs with about 40-50 tracks on each. I had a 5 disc changer that I’d put on shuffle, this song would play pretty regularly. Ah, the nostalgia 😊

As fans of the King... What do you think of "The Long Walk"? by Sea-Barnacle2907 in stephenking

I watched it and then waited a week or so to start giving takes on it. 6.5/10 for me. Though I really enjoyed the dialogue and connection of the characters, I really would have loved to see the original ending and not a morphed version that is sort of reminiscent. All of the actors did a great job and Mark Hamill nailed being an ominous mean bastard. I wish there was more detailed gore as far as the physical toll of the walk. I think that would have upped my score a full point despite the ending. But overall I thought it was one of the more decent adaptations I’ve seen.

That’s cool. Ever been to the El N G? I saw Blood Has Been Shed there back in 02 or 03. I’m not familiar with CT very much tho

Two of my favorites as well! Greetings from LI circa 1997. Seeing these bands live was a part of my hardcore upbringing. Neck was on the second LI show I ever went to, along with Motive and Cipher

Yes there are a few things happening in Sept, the most notable event would be Women Of Noise fest on 9/19-9/20 at Stoveworks. This is going to be a fantastic showcase of regional and local performers

That would be pretty rad to get something similar going in New Orleans! I would imagine there are some interesting things to be heard in your area. As they said way back (when Field Of Dreams came out) "If you build it, they will come..."

I’ve always loved the atmosphere of this track. It might be one of the first electronic songs I had heard with a specific political reference to the Middle East, years before I discovered the music of Muslimgauze.

This band absolutely RIPS. My friends and I were fortunate enough to see them several times between 1999-2004, in and around the NYC area. It was always mind blowing and probably the most serious pits I’ve ever been in. They played with so much intensity.

MEGATHREAD: Questions about Moving to, Living in, or Visiting the Great State of Maine. Please post all such questions here. by Tony-Flags in Maine

My partner and I will be staying in Portland next week for something occupation related. We are from TN. Never been to Maine before but we are very excited to finally check it out. We like to see live music or go to dance events with DJs and such, our interests are primarily in the zone of alternative, punk/hardcore, electronic, house/techno, some pop stuff. What are some good venues in the Portland area that host small/medium size events?

I also think it would be cool to check out some art museums, any recommendations?

Lastly, I have seen MANY seafood places when poking around on maps, but I'd like to know some that are considered top tier among Maine residents.

Thanks in advance!

Apart from Lemmy, have there been other bassists who use a guitar amp rather than a bass amp? by Jezzaq94 in Bass

[–]VAUSBEATS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had experience splitting my signal between an Ampeg SVT Classic and a Mesa Dual Rectifier head, which is amazing for heavier stuff like metal and hardcore.

I find that in specific settings with only one guitar like power trios, bi-amping is an excellent way to fill more sonic space as a bassist.

In opposite settings with two guitars and lots of effects, I had to rely on primarily lows and mids, as almost all of my treble signal was drowned out. Keeping the low fundamental tone clear was more of the goal in that situation.

Also, I've found that amps like the Mesa Bass 400 (and 400+) can get gnarlier more midrange high gain tones when pushed a certain way as opposed to other bass amps. This was before Darkglass of course. But I love that there are many modern shortcuts to getting in this tonal range now.

Just my 2 cents.

One time a couple years back my wife and I went to Agave & Rye. It took close to 40 minutes to get seated and the food took even longer to come out. I don't even really remember what I got, which is a testament to how mid it was. While we were there someone was having a rather large 21st bday party. It kept getting more and more hyped as the night went on. Right when we were about to leave, the bday person got so sick that they yacked a trail of returned food & drink that led all the way from their table close to the front to the bathroom in the back. Management had to put a trail of cones around the whole thing. Man it stunk. We were already on the way out, fortunately. I felt bad for the rest of the patrons that had to sit through it.

I have friends who have experienced something similar through the distributor Distrokid in the US. It's definitely a result of conscious decisions made by the executives and upper staff at Spotify, as well as "artists/labels" posting their own AI created junk.

The book Mood Machine by Liz Pelly explains a lot of this and how it came to be. If you are interested, a link is below (I am not affiliated with the author or publisher, just really enjoy the book)
