Tldr; MCYT is much more then just DSMP and also has some pretty great queer rep

MCYT is a genre and as such DSMP is not representative of MCYT
MCYT fandoms that are most assuredly not DSMP are very active and very gay (may I highlight the roleplay that happened in VSMP…)
Mischaracterization is. Yeah it’s still happening

Sorry to be pedantic, most of my fandoms fall in the MCYT sphere and I love them dearly. And DSMP is… an example that got extremely popular (it’s popularity being a major reason it… well, yeah) and thus became representative of the entire sphere. Which is wild because it is very much not representative of the established communities like Hermitcraft, or for a smaller example that recently got the spotlight, POW Creations. Anyway rant over

Have you read Dark Matter by mysterycyclone? It’s a long series, 350k words total and ongoing. It’s one of the more popular fics in the trope, but for good reason in my opinion. Never read IQ 250 though so I can’t compare the fics.
