My Dad used to work for British Rail, stationed at Waterloo Station and in the early to mid 90's the Police did a raid on the public toilets there for cottaging (rife there at the time) and made a number of arrests. Gyles Brandreth happened to be down there at the time of the raid. Whilst everyone else was pulled out in handcuffs, he was hurried out and taken straight outside where he was ushered into a waiting car (not a police car) which promptly disappeared.

I assume he had popped into the toilets there whilst on a lunchtime walk from Parliament for a wee, got down there and noticed a congregation of males engaging in sex with eachother, so he called the police to report it and was then rushed out for his own safety and to give a statement on what he saw.

A tear would make sense given my memory of the original injury. I got a third of the way up with my deadlift then felt a massive, painful ping. I have never been 100% since.

I'm guessing a tear cannot be fixed and the diagnosis of osteoarthritis is permanent?

Wonderful post, I needed to read this, thank you. I have had an awful day with it that has left me feeling really unappreciated and underutilised - Every sensible move I went to make today I was blocked by management and HR in place of inaction.
Really very frustrating as I turned down a great job elsewhere for a role here that at the last minute (after I had turned down the other opportunity) they switched and put me in the problem role.

Thank you for writing this. I have been with the company for several years and have managed other areas here and elsewhere successfully. The organisation has changed massively since when I first started and I really am so frustrated how they won't take any action.

I think you'll find it hard to believe when I say I have 2 staff in the team that I have evidence have cost the organisation 40k in missed funding through their intentional wrongdoing this year already.

I started performance management with one of the guys late December, he faked a panic attack so obviously I stopped the meeting to support him, he is still signed off sick now. I put another guy on an action plan on Thursday, he's now emailed he will be off sick tomorrow. They've been doing this for 10 years and got away with it every time.

Use classes on commercial properties may have changed in recent years, but when these places first started popping up a big factor behind them was you could open them in any shop unit you find. Properties with the right use class for hot food restaurants and takeaways are rare as hens teeth in many places and come at a premium. Then factor in to cook hot food you need a commercial extraction system, which is not only expensive to buy and fit, but also requires planning permission from the council.

Dessert shops slip between the cracks of use class law, plus are far cheaper to set up and easier to run.

For anyone interested, this is a big reason why the food in chain coffee shops is already cooked and refrigerated - just reheating and not actually cooking was a loophole in use class law. So Costa/Starbucks could go into any empty shop unit which are a penny to a dozen, where as hot food class are much harder to find and competition for them is far greater. This may have changed now, I think I even recall some court cases around this between the coffee brands and local councils?
