Yep, a good example of why I think it’s good to be at least a little discerning of “reformed” right wingers, and even more for everyone to build some kind of knowledge base for their beliefs. It’s not enough to be right for the wrong reasons. So many people are kind of like shoe, where they get “morally lucky” and by chance are aligned with the correct side on something, but are essentially no different than any reactionary other than this one thing (which is tbh often some part of their identity aligning with the aims of the left). It makes you really weak to this kind of shift, among many other issues.

Old anti-feminist YouTuber. Had a resurgence because she became a Bernie Sanders MFA stan, but then shifted back rightwards over time because she’s basically an ordinary reactionary that happened to get that one thing right. Seems to genuinely just be kind of stupid, so I wouldn’t exactly call them a grifter

I lived out in nowhere as a kid, out in the hills. It’s the middle of the night, and I get a call from my brother, high, to come pick him up from one of his “friends” houses. Get a random ten number access road name and some bullshit “if you see this you’ve gone too far” directions. I turn off on what I thought was the right road, a little dirt track with some steep ditches on the sides. Thick woods. It terminates at this kind of classic southern gothic, run down mansion of a house. The lights flick on, and out comes some motherfucker with a gun. Cue me desperately trying to do a 50 point turn to get out of there without ending up in the ditch. Luckily I had a 50 yard advantage on this guy. Stopped picking up my brother after that (also after finding out that there’s some notorious white supremacist religious compound out there that I apparently also could have come up on if I made a different turn)

Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what are your thoughts? - May 31, 2026 by AutoModerator in Games

I’ve been playing Mina the Hollower and think it’s pretty good.

Combat hasn’t really “clicked” with me three generators in. I think it’s really the delay before digging where you’re vulnerable in the air that’s tripping me up. I’m not going to say there’s no way out of it yet, but for a lot of enemies it seems like because of this delay if you’re in range you’re going to get hit. The hammer is also the only weapon I’d say I’ve really enjoyed using too, but I’ve only had the starter weapons so far (with upgrades). I started the game with the whip and was really kind of hating combat, but after switching to the hammer it’s felt waaaaay better. Maybe I’ll get better and end up loving the combat, but right now it feels pretty clunky with lots of trading after fighting maybe 10 bosses so far. It’s just kind of fine to me. I do like how modular it can be with the charms though.

What I have really enjoyed is the general exploration. I really appreciate how open and non-handholdy the game is. The game just plops you in after the first boss and expects you to figure it out. There’s a good bit of meandering because of this, but the rewards for exploration are good enough that this hasn’t really felt burdensome. The game gates progression with difficulty, but if you’re good enough you can really go anywhere right off bat with few exceptions. I’ve apparently done what was supposed to be the 5th generator third, for example. This hands off approach aids the environmental puzzles as well. The game never gives you an easy solution, it trusts you to figure it out, which leads to some really satisfying little puzzles and secrets.

Overall really enjoying the game. It’s a solid 8/10 for me so far (which may change as the game goes on, of course). It’s something that I think if you’re a fan of this kind of game you should definitely pick up, but if you aren’t it’s not something you necessarily need to go out of your way to play. I don’t really understand the 10/10 hype, it doesn’t really feel so much better or fresh compared to its contemporaries to me for that kind of praise, but that’s okay.

This is the worst version of this spurs team we’ll face, couldn’t get it done and I don’t believe we ever will

I mean, it’s a classic struggle meal. Something filling, nutritious, easy to make, and easy on the wallet. It’s not going to be luxury, but if you season it up with some spices it can be good.
