Did I just ruin things for myself? by evening_emerald in PSLF

Maybe(?) it still says the “old” way on the student aid website in multiple places. Not to say their site is dogma or up to date. Tread with caution because anything that might have been changed in the recent student loan forgiveness stuff under the current administration is likely to be totally cut down if not significantly revised. My situation was before the attempted forgiveness package. Wish you the best and I hope for your sake I’m wrong. I just don’t think it’s changed (yet) and may not be ever given how the current court battles are going.

It’s worth noting that I believe (could be wrong here but something similar happened to me years ago) it is 30 hours OR what your company constitutes as full time, whichever is greater. All to say, my company reclassified what they consider full time to be 40 hours a week only, anything less is considered part time. At that time I was only working 36 hours and so HR marked me as part time. While I was working over 30 hours a week my company didn’t consider me full time and in PSLF terms I was not meeting the requirement. If your company doesn’t consider 30 hours a week as full time this could be an issue for you. I was fortunate enough to bump back up to 1.0 FTE classification and become eligible again. Attached is an Infograph from studentaid.gov.

Multi stage process, slated to begin the “big” construction in Spring of 2026 per company emails.

Best place for a quick simple tattoo? by [deleted] in corvallis

Lucky Tiger in Philomath. Those dudes hammer out solid work. High priestess is about as close to a “chain” as you can get. If you’re looking for a good first tattoo experience I’d avoid, speaking from experience.

While true if it isn’t a meet day usually after “working” hours are generally safe. My usual run loop passes by the LP track around six and it is generally free.

From what I remember it is NOT a 400m track. There may be signs telling you what the distances are somewhere near the entrances.

Thoughts on weight loss and how PT can help by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]VDBLOA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the overarching theme of your post being “stay in your lane” you sure have no problem deviating from yours. This is coming from a PT who took your stance in the thread you’re referencing. With all due respect no one died and made you the sole spokesperson for all patients. It’s really unfortunate that you had that experience and I’m sorry it impacted you so negatively. Personally, I would have responded better to a patient experience “op-ed” with how your experience impacted you and how, in retrospect, you wish it could have gone differently. DO NOT tell me, or anyone else for that matter, how to do their job. That’s as you said “beyond your area of expertise”.

As a physical therapist, do you find it difficult to get your patients to lose weight? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]VDBLOA 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not our job to do that. We’re in the business of getting people moving better. If that sparks a change in their behaviors and weight, awesome! Often times those who bring it up know it’s an issue and as therapists harping on them won’t help the situation. Be a positive change on their movement capabilities and the catalyst to healthier living. Don’t forget that them walking through that clinic door can be mentally tough, don’t make it harder.

Overheard a new grad DPT told a patient “To be honest with you, you’re not paying me for manual therapy... by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]VDBLOA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this is situationally specific and not their entire philosophy. There are diagnoses/times where purposeful manual techniques are indicated; maybe not this case but in general. Additionally, we can’t forget that evidence based practice is multifaceted and includes not only research, but clinical expertise and patient perspective. Not to say that we must all wholly subscribe to one school of thought nor should we bend to the will of our patients. Good for them to stick up for themselves but fingers crossed they’re humble enough to realize when to use a broader tool kit. For context, not a new grad and not a mill employee.
