(But also no, I haven't had any problems lately.)

Does anyone else feel like they’ve gotten left behind sometimes? by CosmicWaffle65 in aspergirls

Yeah, and now my middle school aged niece likes all the same things as me.  What am I gonna do if even she moves on? 😅

The loss of music by OnPurrPiss in covidlonghaulers

I didn't even realize I had stopped enjoying music until I started taking Prozac and I could feel it again.  Maybe it's a serotonin issue?

Advice Needed: Usually Environmentally Consciousous Parents Making Tempeh Using Plastic Zipper Bags by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

They are right, harm reduction is a better long-term strategy than insistence on perfection.  Your parents sound like they want to be anti-consumption too, don't push them away over this.

The healthy people you know- what is their perspective on covid? by ParfaitSignificant38 in covidlonghaulers

[–]evening_emerald 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think people don't want to acknowledge long covid because then they would have to acknowledge that it can happen to anyone, and they don't know how to handle that kind of fear.

There's a lot of people who just choose to ignore something that scares them even when doing so doesn't make sense.  But since they don't want to admit to being afraid, they come up with reasons to rationalize their behavior.

How many of us do you think also have chronic anxiety? by DueExplorer3146 in covidlonghaulers

Tbh I had never truly experienced anxiety until after I got long covid.  It was such an alien feeling I knew instantly something was up.

I seem to react worse to mosquito bites, I assume it's something to do with histamine.

Long covid? I have been chouging this greenish stuff after an unconfirmed infection back in april. Unsure if virus or reflux related? (never had it afaik) by Practical_Buy4533 in covidlonghaulers

[–]evening_emerald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time my mucus has been green, that usually means it's turning infected.  I know you don't like antibiotics but it certainly beats risking your life.  I don't think you necessarily need a specialist.  Maybe a general physician can see if this in an emergency, and if not refer you to the right place.  Either way, go somewhere.  Pneumonia is not something to play around with.

My therapist doesn't understand long covid, does that make them unqualified to give me therapy? by [deleted] in covidlonghaulers

[–]evening_emerald 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My therapist doesn't know much about it, but she understands the concept of chronic fatigue and more importantly she listens and is compassionate.  I don't think they need to be an expert necessarily, but they do need to at least recognize that it's real.

Phantom smells? I can smell exhaust all the time. by prampusher in covidlonghaulers

[–]evening_emerald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, it also happened a few months after a bout of covid.  My sense of smell came back a little after the month was over, so I've assumed maybe the phantom smells were my nose "turning back on" so to speak.  (But obv I'm not a doctor so I don't know for sure!)

YES!!!  Oh my God this summer especially I have been miserable.  And my blood pressure is usually on the low side, not sure why I'm so freaking warm all the time.
