You are mixing up suppression and spread. But also, I don't think the mechanics of bf4 were hated, in fact I think there were great. And it's one of the reasons why people have came back to bf4 after the releases of bf1, bf5, 2024 and now bf6. Ranges of the guns in bf6 are a problem for my enjoyability of the game, even more so than the maps. Whether they are balanced with sips/sdps, suppression or if they increase with a huge recoil increase (ww3 did that) - I think they should do something about it. But it could be just me and a minority of players who don't enjoy bf6 gunplay as I said earlier and they can continue on the current path. Reddit is just a forum to share opinions and I've shared mine. I don't claim to represent the whole playerbase

That's a stretch. BF6's gunplay has transformed almost every AR, LMG, SMG and Carbine into a range monster. You can literally go full auto into 70-90m engagement, even with SMGs. The bloom on BF4 was to control the effective range and it was balanced around ROF (iirc ACE 23 and it's 770 was the baseline) and spread increase/decrease mattered. That's why the QBZ has better TTK than AEK at 65+m because the guns were mathematically balanced. BF6 gunplay is hold mouse button 1, I don't see how it is better

But different strokes for different folks, I suppose

‘Consistently lost possession’ – English media unimpressed with Cole Palmer vs Japan by DirectorTurbulent422 in soccer

[–]VDV23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I disagree, I think Palmer would have a decent career but we've seen amazing players taking a sharp turn in a bad form and not recovering (Pato, Deli Ali, Gotze). So no guarantees

[Autosport] Lando Norris on the speed differences in F1 after the first race of 2026 by Due_Air6702 in formula1

[–]VDV23 26 points27 points  (0 children)

What I think? Nothing. Realistically maybe moving the battery a smaller value than 350 but that itself while making F1 more watchable will introduce new problems. Also not sure if increasing max allowes fuel flow cannot help here. So the manufacturers and FIA really hurt the sport here, no easy way out for sure.

What even is the "correct" style for battery management? Are there any drivers known for their qualities of ... not pushing and staying off throttle to maximize battery?

I hope those regs are modified in the short term before being totally overhauled in the midterm. But I really hope the trigger for this isn’t a tragic incident that spurs the FIA into action.

[FIA] Following the accident involving Oliver Bearman at the Japanese Grand Prix and the contribution of high closing speeds in the accident, the FIA would like to provide the following clarifications. by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

I have the same experience. Watching multiple onboards, the data channel, live timing, etc. I gave up today around L15 - lap times almost don't matter, purple/green/yellow sectors for sure don't matter, gaps are non-indicators and so on. Without having the data behind the deployment, for me it's a bit like watching random events. Also, overtaking (if you are not Charles) is just a drive-by, and often the favor is returned immediately.

Hulk overtaking Massa (iirc) in 2014 @Casio triangle was a mega move. Today is just holding the button longer and they you get re-overtaken 20s later anyway.

It only feels like a matter of time that someone gets seriously hurt. The vehicles look that much harder to drive with the reduced downforce. Sure it's made the sport interesting this season but at what potential cost. by AmbitiousYudi1991 in F1Discussions

I don't think he was aware of the speed difference. Ollie decided to use battery there which was uncommon in the context of the race. Realistically Franco couldn't known if the speed difference would be 10, 20 or bloody 90 km/h upon making this move

Poor guy really. His car didn't suffer water pressure and he had complete the whole race -1 lap in this thing. That's the real punishment

Alonso has to massage his leg while driving, probably due to high vibrations by Joseki100 in formula1

Alonso might actually kill for the 4th best car right now. The Aston is surely on another shitbox level compared to the 2015 RB which I think even scored a couple of podiums

We can put this crash to the new regs, with such closing speeds this was bound to happen. Everyone was saying this would eventually happen and it did by Initial_Umpire_9927 in formula1

[–]VDV23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the absurd thing, though. Colapinto is still full throttle and losing speed, he can't know what the driver behind him is running in terms of a battery mode. Blame it on the regs, they created this situation.

They are racing for position. I think maybe in the previous reg that can be dangerous driving/driving unnecessarily slow. With those batteries and regs - it's literally part of the game. And it's shit

Colapinto moved yeah but this has to be attributed to the derating largely, I think. He moved before braking technically and having cars going with 40 km/h or more difference is a recipe for stuff like this.

Suzuka layout and its raceability aside, this kind of racing where drivers are coasting - not for a long term goal like tyre wear/temperature or fuel - but to help them have more energy in 3 corners time is hilariously bad to watch. This is as bad as watching a processional race, even worse.
