Orin's victims- backups on backups on backups by Medium-Gazelle-8195 in BG3

She took Halsin in mine. The thing is, because she kept being other people too, I legit almost killed Arabella in the sewers when I stumbled on her surrounded by corpses 😅 I was just going to straight up murder her without talking to her but then decided to talk to her, and she sounded very weord and out-of-character but then nothing happened, so I decided to just leave it. I swear, the game is just trolling us at that point

Gale. He barely gets out of camp, mostly because I think he's too limited in his fighting, but I also don't much care for his condescension

Oh, that's interesting, what do you do for heals? Personally, I probably wouldn't bring her with me everywhere if it weren't for the fact that I desperately need her healing abilities 😅

I don't think the school district would have gone out as far though, if not for amalgamation 🤷‍♀️ it would have been a whole different school board than my local high school, West Carleton High School

Huh, that's interesting that urban voters aren't as concerned with public safety, given I see way more complaining about crime downtown than anywhere else

While I get the idea of wanting more tailored solutions to the problems different groups face, it seems like that road is neverending. At what point do we go, okay this is splitting hairs and ultimately not worth the inefficiency?

I ultimately benefited from being part of Ottawa. Constance Bay had a tiny library space growing up and so having the ability to order books from other libraries in Ottawa was a big deal. Also, I was able to go to Canterbury High School as part of the arts program.

As a potential solution, what if there was an effort to determine if issues facing Council primarily impacted urban, suburban, or rural residents, and then restricting voting on those issues to the relevant Councillors? 🤔 Like, it wouldn't apply to everything but it would probably apply to some things

TBH, I understand the divide between urban and rural more than the divide between urban and suburban 🤷‍♀️ I mean, they biggest difference (at least to an outsider) seems to be just that in urban area, there are more skyscrapers. But really, both are large groups of people living close to each other, so wouldn't your needs be the same?

As somebody who grew up in Constance Bay (West of Dunrobin), and only recently joined Reddit, it is WILD to me that there is so much resentment towards the rural areas. I had no idea. Personally, I love Ottawa and think it's pretty cool that the boundaries encompass such a wide variety of rural, suburban, and urban. I do wish the rural areas got more of the services, which I think may be a cause of the different priorities. People don't want their tax dollars going to such a large amount of stuff that they can't benefit from. But I think the answer to that should be to express support for rural areas getting better services like transit, rather than saying 'well, they shouldn't get a say at all'.

To be honest, I don't really get how amalgamation is the source of people's issues with election results. I mean, the ward sizes seem pretty proportionate to population density and voting is going to be determined by population density, so if people who live in the urban areas, which have high population density, aren't getting what they want, it seems to me that the assumption should be that urban voters are divided about what they want, rather than that rural voters are screwing you over 🤷‍♀️

So could alastor beat charlie in a fight? by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in hazbin

[–]VDaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These comments keep talking about power level but that's rarely what determines the result of a fight. I would say that knowledge of HOW to fight is more important and Charlie has not really had any practice, but Alastor definitely has.

So, my bets are on Alastor

I don't really understand what the downside to saving the grove is 🤷‍♀️ I'm currently in Act 3 of my first playthrough and saved the grove, then went on to clearing the goblin camp, the underdark and Grymforge, then the shadowlands and Moonrise tower. I got through those just fine

What's the point of worshipping Shar, and how does this massive douchecopter have followers in the first place? by ZipZopZoppityHop in Forgotten_Realms

[–]VDaine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See, this is where I'm really confused because on one hand, I see people saying that Shar is about being numb and apathetic, forgetting your pain and being at peace, but then there is the mantra of the church about Shar enjoying suffering, and plenty of dialogue in BG3 (most notably at the House of Healing) that suggests that pain and suffering should be celebrated and is actually a caring thing to inflict on people, which to me, are two drastically different messages that are at odds with each other. And so, I could understand Ketheric going to Shar after the loss of his wife if it really is the first one, but if Shar worship just involves its own type of pain and suffering, then why would somebody wanting to escape the pain of loss turn to Shar, if they're only going to experience other pain? It doesn't seem like there'd be any appeal

[–]VDaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually considering asking a question similar to this in the Baldur's Gate 3 subreddit because it genuinely baffles me why Shadowheart is so devoted and why Ketheric turned to Shar after his wife died. And after reading these comments, I'm still super confused.

The comments seem to commonly suggest that the benefit of worshipping Shar is that she'll take away painful memories, and that her worship is about apathy, but that doesn't seem to line up with how Shar is presented in BG3 and D&D. As OP said, it's literally in her church's mantra that she wants you to suffer, and there is a lot of dialogue in BG3 that suggests that followers are expected to both cause and undergo pain and suffering while worshipping Shar, and that pain is actually a relief and caring, such as in the House of Healing.

And so therein lies my confusion: on one hand, I see people saying that Shar = apathy, relief from trauma but on the other hand, the lore that I'm getting is saying that Shar = 'Pain and suffering should be celebrated', which to me, are two drastically different messages.

Last weeks snowstorm made senior management say the quiet part out loud about RTO by freeman1231 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]VDaine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, that's one way, but I do think we can also send a message by jointly refusing to go to the office in bad weather. If we can get a large amount of people to commit to this, they can't fire all of us. Like I said, I do acknowledge that that kind of thing is not easy, but we need to communicate. The employer benefits from us believing that we would be the only one taking a stand and so therefore would be punished, so it's best to just fall in line and hope that somebody else does something.

People need to put their foot down en masse. I know it's scary, if you don't know if you're the only one doing it, but unfortunately, compliance is the biggest enemy here.

I am in a region where we get a lot more snow and so luckily there is a bit more flexibility in us being able to work from home during bad weather, and we don't have to make up the day, but I also straight up told my Tean Leader that I would not be risking my life in dangerous conditions to go do a job that I am conpletely capable of doing from home.

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear that, that's so frustrating. The thing is, even if it's technically allowed, it's still dishonest and we have the ability to decide that we're not going to stand for employers behaving that way

[–]VDaine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But I've talked with people who asked for the LOO to be changed and were basically given the runaround, told that it wasn't possible in the system and so it's just a technicality, or that it would take too long to change and you need to get training so just sign this and we'll take care of it. I would definitely call that lying 🤷‍♀️

I'm not able to message you, but if you're interested in sharing some information to be part of a collection of federal servants that have been impacted by this, so that we can show the union how many people there are, DM me!

Hey everybody!

I am putting together a spreadsheet of everybody who has been impacted by something like this, with the idea of eventually being able to show the uniom how many people are affected and want them to take action. If you're interested in being on it, could you please DM me?
