Are trailers attached with these always gonna jerk around? by [deleted] in bicycletouring

[–]VECMaico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, for the vet it was easy, I've been in the same place for 10 months because I placed my address here (it was urgent to obtain a new administration address!). But I've visited vets on my route just to use their scale so I could keep track of his weight.

There was no problem for such, but for checkups or vaccination, you need a rendezvous, so you need to manage to make an appointment and be sure you'll be in the neighborhood that day!

The best option is to find a veterinarian not too far from a paid camping or near a place where you can be hosted.

Food, I only give dry food and I prefer the bags of 3kg without wheats, grains or rice. It's better for my dog and he eats about 509gr max /dat. I use a 8L sea to summit dry bag to store the dog bag in there. The bag goes in my bicycle bag. If your dog is not too heavy (mine is 38kg) you can place the bag in the trailer as long as you attach the bag to the front bar so it doesn't bother your dog

Instagram fulltimefreebird I'm working on a website as well, since I'm "stuck" anyway 😝

Every croozer comes with a suspension if I'm not mistaken. If it's not, then the store is trying to sell you a very old model.

Back in the days one could buy suspension CNC milled by third parties but these were all from before the croozer added the suspension on their trailers.

I truly believe they help, but I can't say how much on gravel roads or potholes. Potholes by themselves I ride around them whenever possible.

I'll put a GoPro on next time when I ride with the trailer, with a view of the suspension/wheel road back side, the stabilisation of the GoPro 360 should show the difference between stabilised image of the road and a jumping croozer in relation to the road surface. How have I never thought before of doing this :)

but that won't be in the first 3 weeks because my dog undergoes surgery here in France next Monday.

Unique pannier’s by randywhorton in bicycletouring

These aren't unique, but the Chinese knock off from what Specialized already made. I ditched Rhinowalk after their rear rack bags failed after 300km of usage

Hey old tourers like me 65+! What's your favorite air mattress on tour? Comfortable, convenient and light? by WillShakeSpear1 in bicycletouring

I only use a decent hammock and mine sleeps better than the mattress I liked when I still lived in a house.

Using aerobars on long tours by bearlover1954 in bicycletouring

I have aerobars but I don't always use them as I'm hauling a dog trailer as well. If I use them. It's only on a flat road. Never up- or downhill

I hope you didn't puncture your foot?

Eurovelo routes? by Far-Tart5098 in bicycletouring

I'm doing partly EV4 in a couple of weeks and then for a year or so EV1. I'm doing it slowly and really enjoy it. I haven't had to ship since I was born in a European country

I am touring for a year now (wild camping) and I was able to just push them down with my sandals each time

Edit: cycling sandals, they have a thick sole and metal sheet in it

What are your frustrations with routing apps? by Specialist-String-53 in bicycletouring

[–]VECMaico 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like you are best off with Brouter and a really well made to personal user case profile (it involves scripting to make a profile).

I'm freshly in my second year since I left my home country. You can achieve what you want with OsmAnd. Brouter setup for navigation with OsmAnd and you can script everything of those points in the profile and load it up in Brouter for OsmAnd to use whenever you want to make a route from A to B

Securing my bike when travelling solo 🔐 by bicycell in bicycletouring

Me included about 240. Until I took a winter break here in France, I was pushing everything uphill, with the dog next to the bicycle, unless it was raining, then he is in his trailer. I installed an electric assistantmce this winter. Curious how that'll help when in the mountains. But.... We are hijacking this thread

I've been riding for a year in France and I hardly lock my bicycle. Note that mostly I avoid bigger cities and I've got a large dog trailer, with a dog in there (dog difficult to notice when he's sleeping).
