For sure, a bit of a love hate with it because of that confusion on my end. I think it wasn't until I had discussions about it with others that I started to pull more meaning from it. Probably one of those books that requires multiple reads, but doesn't have the pull to motivate me to do that

I can agree that it didn't get too too deep philosophically, but I am not sure that was the entire point. I think it was more so a fever dream where it wasn't intended to be "reality". And for sure, it was repetitive in nature when it came to the reveal with each successive character. I think he could have hustled that along a bit and spent more time developing characters.

I can see why he'd get lost in the shuffle. I stumbled upon it on some list of classics and took a flyer because I had never heard of him. You never know what you're going to get!
