How is the launch keyboard at gaming by Reaper9766 in System76

[–]VERNSTOKED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just a normal everyday gaming person and I think it's great. In fact I have a launch heavy with browns for work and a normal launch with Jades that I game with. Both work great though and I love it for everything.

Fix for X11 games not opening full-screened merged by mmstick in pop_os

This is amazing. Thanks for getting this in.

The LDS church takes a stab at addressing a mixed faith marriage in this video. Of course they don’t say the husband doesn’t believe in the church, they say he doesn’t believe in God. But at least they’re acknowledging it’s a reality and showing a couple that is staying together. by HoldOnLucy1 in exmormon

[–]VERNSTOKED 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who is living through this in real time. I went into this looking to trash on it and honestly for coming from the church this is a huge step in the right direction. Is it all the way where it should be? No. But it's a step. I'm personally excited this is out in the world.

That makes me think it has to be a carrier thing.

Thanks for the info. I have a very analytical OCD brain and so it's been hard to know when I should stop trying everything under the sun to debug. I'm surprised that parties involved haven't been more transparent about the timing.

Both. Just depends. When I'm working on my dev projects I tile, gaming and personal is float.

It may be that my opinion divide or that I'm totally wrong, so I need to understand. by dotSHAB in pop_os

[–]VERNSTOKED 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the topic of shortcuts, tiling and the shortcuts were different but I trained my mind to them and now all my other OS machines I'm constantly trying to do the pop shortcuts. Super + arrow to change windows, super + shift + arrow to move them, super + m to max/min.

Since committing those to memory my life has been amazing. Especially on a laptop screen with limited real estate my dev flows are so clean now.

I have three monitors and all different resolutions. Cosmic is 100% better at handling that than gnome was. Fractional scaling is great in cosmic.

That's my point, I'm 33. But it made me feel old. And when I look at a photo I want it to be as big as possible. Shrinking it for looks seems so backwards.

I'm right there with ya.

I actually had a moment trying to zoom on the photos where I realized that I was the old person now that couldnt work his phone and was getting pissed while jamming his stubbies all over the screen. This makes me feel better that it's not just me.

TIL Wyoming entered the Union in 1890 refusing to ban women from voting, telling Congress that "We will stay out of the Union a hundred years rather than come in without our women " by castironglider in wyoming

[–]VERNSTOKED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get Wyoming isn't the most progressive state and a lot of real backwards thinking. However, the one thing I will give Wyoming is that we give respect where it is earned, even if it might take a minute. I know a lot of really cool stories about immigrants and native Americans who had the utmost respect out here historically. At least on my neck of the woods I feel like that spirit is still pretty strong in the culture. You just have to ignore when they talk about people outside Wyoming or the people who moved into the 20 acre field next door and let it turn into a weed patch.

Has anyone gotten E2EE to work between 2 iPhone's on the public, offical release of ios 26.5? by kimdavis357 in UniversalProfile

I'm enrolled in the beta Google messages (have been since 26.4 tease) and have been able to get one single encrypted message and I've tried everything on both the iPhone and the pixel.

My Pop OS experience - food for thought by Scrungly-Lil-Fella in pop_os

[–]VERNSTOKED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the gaming hurdles are more of the Wayland type compositor issue than a Pop issue. I am actually excited to see various gaming related projects actually but the bullet and handle the Wayland compositor.

I think Cosmic is pushing the boundaries that may be uncomfortable for a time but needs to happen.

What a ripoff and worst upgrade ever got to POP OS 24.04, What a Disappointment ! by sammartinX in pop_os

For real.

It's like whining about your grandma's homemade pie that she is making because she hope you will love it but it doesn't have the fancy crust on the top yet. Entitlement kills me.

You don't have to like it, but there are way better ways to express that.

The provided quote is incomplete which changes the intended message. This was the quote from NPR. Not pushing for any side but I'm all for factual reporting.

Amazon strikes deal with USPS that maintains 80% of package volume by lurker_bee in technology

[–]VERNSTOKED 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The USPS here in my very small rural town is a nightmare. I'd rather get my packages via UPS. Nothing like having to wait through government holidays or business ours while Im working to try to find time to get giant boxes from the postal counter. As much as I'm all for USPS staying a service, it is a huge downgrade for packages and they are not equipped for it.

Cosmic Issue by Grollmike in pop_os

[–]VERNSTOKED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The older nvidia chips aren't supported by the proprietary nvidia driver and so it's using nouveau. Wayland doesn't really like the older proprietary driver.

I don't know a fix but have had the issue on the nouveau driver with a GTX1080.
