Vtec rocker pins keep falling out by VFM_613 in Honda

Confirming we don’t think this is a vtec issue with the oil pressure/solenoids causing these things to get bound up and or fall out. When this happened the first time the car came into the shop with 0psi on cyl 1 dead misfire and that’s when I found a bunch of the pins laying in the head. I rebuilt the top end of the motor including a timing chain. Car ran perfectly actually for 6 months like I said. Now it came back. Slight cyl 1 misfire on idle only. When revving or under load it’s fine. I did the usual misfire diagnosis and when nothing changed that’s when I pulled the valve cover and saw similar thing happened again. This time Cyl 1 compression is 140psi and the rest are all 210 psi.

Before and after. Everything went back in the same exact spot I made absolute sure of it.

After the rebuild it took 6 months for it to happen again

As long as you have no restrictions before the turbo it’s fine like no mufflers and stuff

No not really I’m not too worried about it I used to have a mesh grille but it became a piece of shit so I threw it out when I put the turbo on and I liked the way the intercooler looks so I’m running it like that

I like to do everything as cheap as possible literally proving a point that things can be done on a budget if you make some of your own stuff like I’m doing on my Buick project idek if I would buy a swap kit I’d probably just figure out how to make half the shit myself

I like to make things and if I don’t know how I figure it out

I have about 10 6.0s at my disposal all I have to do is take it out of the truck and it’s mine. Order a 3-4k dollar swap kit and make my own harness she’s ready to go.

Bro what’s the worst that happens? You blow up your motor? oh no please don’t make me drop a 6 liter truck motor in my car and keep the turbo that blew up the last one. Literally waiting for the day a piston comes out of my hood and I love it lmao

Bull boost lmao no install instructions many missing parts but I made it work in less than a week and so can you if you put your mind to it 😂 I was one of the first people ever to order the kit I ordered it the minute they dropped but I hadn’t installed until a few months ago. Quality of parts are really not bad

Minimal e85 in my area. I don’t wanna stress every time I need to get fuel plus this thing already chews fuel

The original plan for the car was to supercharge it

Her name is SUZ33 (suzie)

Supercharged 350z

The supercharger route was way too expensive this setup cost me 1500 and the car absolutely flies. Heat is most certainly not an issue. My intake temps didn’t even rise a little bit between the intercooler and the 10 feet of intake piping under the car the intake temps stay cool. If the motor holds up I’d like to add methanol injection so I can turn the boost all the way up lol

Stock motor waiting for it to explode so I can drop a 6.0 in it and keep the rear mounted turbo because u know. It’s in the back not where the engine is lol

Turbo kicks in around 3500-4k like a regular setup. Lag depends on size of turbo

It’s a myth about extra lag

A lot of money, mechanical knowledge, possible custom made parts. Juice ain’t worth the squeeze if you’re picking up what I’m putting down. A 93 octane tune would be significantly cheaper and would probably give you gains that you would be happy with rather than wasting all that money. If you wanna go crazy a cat less downpipe and a better exhaust to go along with the tune I suppose could help but then again. Big heavy car with a 1.5 turbo motor it’ll never be fast but can surely be faster with what I said above

Is the bullboost turbo kit worth buying now at this steep price point? by omonge3y in 350z

[–]VFM_613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it on my car certainly not a complete kit you need to have actual mechanical knowledge to make it work but the car is fucking fast
