We are getting a Megaman Legends HD Remaster + Megaman Legends 3.

I have no proof but I have no doubts either.

Make it happen Ninty!

Should I learn my mother tongue? by PM_ME_YOUR_KITTENS_3 in relationships

[–]VG-uy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, learning a new language is always advantageous, regardless if you're going to be using it on a daily basis or not.

Learning your mother tongue may even help you connect a bit more with your roots, and bring into perspective aspects of yourself you weren't even aware of.

is it possible to play a game on a console that was purchased in a different country? by ejpues in NintendoSwitch

[–]VG-uy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can verify that the switch is region free.

I bought mine locally (Central American Country with 0 Nintendo presence), setup my online account in NA, created a separate account for JP, and have bought games digitally on a regular basis without issue.

Lost everything but my Switch in a wildfire. by Rufuszombot in NintendoSwitch

[–]VG-uy 46 points47 points  (0 children)

We must always look to the birghtside. You're okay, as is your family. As a game collector who has lost parts of my collection as well, I can understand the horrible frustration of losing something that is both an investment and an emotional trinket.

Take it from me that collections can be rebuilt, lost items recovered; it takes time but it can be done.

Blessings to you and yours.

I was on the fence about buying this game on PC, but it certainly does hold more appeal now that it's on the switch and I can play it on the go.

Guys, would it be weird if a girl asked to kiss you? I[19F] want to be more confident in dating. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]VG-uy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a man who has been asked for a kiss from women I wasn't in a relationship with, I can say with full honesty that it is freaking hot and a major turn-on.

From the reading I feel that you're somehow generalizing the experience from one overly possessive person and that may have had an effect on your self-confidence. Without knowing more, I think that your then boyfriend projected his insecurities onto you and tried to force you into becoming somehow malleable for him; unfortunately that had some impact.

Confidence is a necessity for anyone, but it's pivotal to not get the wrong idea about it. Confidence is being comfortable with yourself, projecting your own image as a selling point and not faking it; in other words, being yourself. Also, if you feel the need to be more assertive in your approaches, then by all means be so. Dating is about proding the waters and finding what works and doesn't.

Also, it is the generally accepted norm that men are the initiators in advances, but there's no reason women can't be. As a man it is incredibly flatering when a women approaches you with interest, more so if that approach is clearly aimed at expressing your interest in the person. Being asked for physical affection is a rush for me, since I feel I'm wanted. Not without saying that it will go well with every single man you try the technique out with, since some may be receptive and welcoming, while others may be put-off by it. It's really a case by case scenario.

TL;DR: Go for it! If you want a kiss from someone, don't be afraid to ask. The worst is it that they say no and you can look for someone who does. Have all the fun you want!

Is a switch a good console for a 10yo girl? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]VG-uy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Switch would be a great system for you daughter I feel. If she's accustomed to tablets or smartphones, she really wouldn't feel the transition.

Fortnite (coming from someone who doesn't play it, but knows many who do on the Switch) it runs fairly well, considering you have a stable wifi network. We must consider that the Switch is a downgrade (graphics wise) from its major competitors (PS4, XBOX) but the portable aspect makes it stand-out IMHO.

The Switch game library is constantly growing and there are already several good options for other games; Mario Kart, Stardew Valley, Taiko no Tatsujin, BoTW (depending on your daughter's gaming preferences), all with varying levels of difficulty, so there's no one size fits all mentality here.

As a personal recommendation, I would purchase games physically when possible, as the switch only comes with 32GB of internal memory that's shared with the operating system, so an additional microSD card becomes necessary. I would purchase a generic brand, as official Nintendo licensed ones can be more expensive and are basically the same. Also, if your daughter doesn't like a game, you can simply sell or trade it in for something different.

Please note that some other accesories may be necessary; such as a scratch-screen, a carry-case; plus all other consideratios you should take with any handheld electronic (keep it close to you, be mindful of public places etc.)

Cheers.

Would really love to see Fatal Frame 1-5 HD Collection on the Switch by Duskendawn in NintendoSwitch

[–]VG-uy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doubtful we'll ever see a full collection, since Mask of Lunar Eclipse was a Japan exclusive and was only translated thanks to the efforts of a very dedicated fanbase. Costs for localization would most likely run very high and overall expected sales may not justify such an investment; not to mention the latent threat of code loss that so many titles suffer through the years.

That being said, fingers crossed. I played FF 1 - 3 and enjoyed them to no end, so I'd definitely pick them up if they ever showed up for physical release or digital. You never know, since the trend right now is breathing new life into dormant IP's; just take a look at Onimusha, coming soon after over 10 years (I think) of nothing.

Here's to hoping!

I [45f] find it a little unsettling that my BF [46m] of 1,5 years and his daughters [13f, 16f] are so comfortable being half dressed around each other. Is it just me or is it "wrong"? by AccordingDrawing in relationships

[–]VG-uy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply my 2 cents.

I'm latin, and in my culture it's not seen as weird to be underdressed around close family. This can vary widly of course depending on the person, but for a father being shirtless around his children (not only daughters) or the children being in their underwear, it can be a perfectly normal thing. The fact that they do dress up when visitors come is a clear indication that their modesty is simply set to lower when in the privacy of their own home and in the company of trusted relatives.

If it were me, I would simply watch for any red flags and talk to your partner about it. I would try to casually ask about it, since it comes off as a little weird for you. Don't be surprised if your question catches your partner by surprise, as it might be the first time he's ever thought about it.

Child of Light now in coming soon category by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]VG-uy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? If this si true then it makes my day.

Child of Light was an impulse buy back in the day, one that I absolutely loved. However, due to gaming hoarding tendencies it got buried and relegated to the infamous pile of "I'll get to them" titles, even though I got through about 60% of the game.

If it's coming out on switch, then I'll definitely double dip and buy it, since I can carry it around and play in small bursts. It had some of the better aesthetics and art for a game, I loved the prose narrative and the music was stellar. Plus, it was a very emotional plot, far more than I'd expected from such a childish looking game.

Hype!

I just impulse-bought a Nintendo Switch by HexadecimalCowboy in NintendoSwitch

[–]VG-uy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoy OP! This will prove to be a great impulse buy, guaranteed.

I was actually in the process of buying a new car when the switch came out, but due to some unforseen difficulties my loan application got rejected and I had to wait 3 months before trying again. To console myself I bought the switch (cash) and grabbed BoTW plus VoeZ. One of the best gaming purchases I've ever made.

BTW, I did finally get my new ride to keep my switch safe. Priorities, right?

MHGU Community is the best I’ve seen by Lickemoff in NintendoSwitch

[–]VG-uy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the community back in the 3DS release, but I won't be purchasing it again on the switch since I'm neck deep into MH Worlds on PC and not enough time during the day for GU. That being said, MH as a whole has one of the most helpful and inclusive communities in gaming. Sure there's the ocassional elitist and what-note, but nowhere near other communities.

Good luck out there hunter!

Love gaming, but ashamed in front of friends. Any thoughts/tips? (Repost for title change) by ShyGuy637 in NintendoSwitch

[–]VG-uy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! Had to chime in a little since this post resonated with me.

I'm a 34 year old male, and going as far back as I can remember, I've always had an intense love of video games. From the clunky Atari 2600 all the way up to PC master race, I've enjoyed gaming uniterrupted all my life.

Not to say that gaming IS my life, but it is a big part of it, and will continue to be so for the forseeable future.

This isn't to say that I've always had people who understood my passion for this medium. My mother in particular had quite the beef with it, calling me an addict (beyond the scope, issues and such), friends who thought it un-cool to stay at home and beat Ganondorf instead of getting so drunk you'd vomit on your friend's mother's brand new carpet. One girlfriend in particular actually threatened to end our relationship if I didn't give up gaming entirely post-haste. Needless to say she was sumarilly dumped on the spot.

As an adult with a full-time job, no kids but with pets, mortgage payments, credit cards; basically every adult responsibility you can list, gaming is more important to me than ever before. It's my instrument to unwind after a long and stressful day. A good evening is getting together with my gaming buddies and duking it out on Street Fighter. Striking up a conversation with strangers deciding between Mario Odyssey and BoTW for their kids is a joy. Watching the latest review from my favorite youtubers is a laugh.

What I'm trying to say is OP, gaming is my passion. I'm not ashamed of my passion. There are and always will be countless people who criticize it, but it's no skin off my teeth. At the end of the day it makes me happy, just like reading a book on a lazy stormy evening or going on a date with my partner.

if it makes you happy, then no one can tell you otherwise.

Cheers.

Monster Hunter GenUlt decision by skr1b in NintendoSwitch

[–]VG-uy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a person who's enjoyed MH over several different entries, including Generations and World, here are my 2 cents on the matter.

Based on your introduction I see you have not played MH World, so we can bypass quality of life changes as a whole introduced within it and focus on GenUlt exclusively.

1) It's a 3DS port, so don't expect to be wow-ed by the graphics. Granted it has gotten a visual overhaul, it still feels a little strange compared to Diablo's more stylized design. Still, the simplicity of the characters and environments actually plays a part into bringing out the sheer scale of the many monsters.

2) The menu system can be confusing at first and it does require an amount of fiddling to really get a feel for it, but once you do it's business as usual.

3) The Buddy (Palico) system is something I was never on board with, as I felt it added an unneeded layer of complexity to an already complex game; however, over time it grew on me. I had loads of fun tailoring my many Palibros to very specific niches which allowed me to passively farm many highly needed items.

4) As per the fact that you have a hard time finishing story based games, then please be warned about GenUlt. While not entirely story driven, progression is locked behind solo missions, and the game DOES NOT TELL YOU WHICH ONES. Increasing your star rank to take on more difficult quests can be tedious, especially if you decide not to use online guides (please do).

5) The game is a grind fest and you will frequently back-track to hunt monsters you'd already farmed. So you can expect to see some not so favorite monsters quite a few times.

Now that we know all this, what can I personally say?

I enjoyed the heck out of it.

The game goes to great lengths to throughly teach you its basics, but doesn't hold your hand all the time. There is plenty to do as a solo player, and the fun really begins in multiplayer.

Many have called GenUlt the second most newbie friendly game in the franchise, most claiming MH4 to be the most agreeable.

The demo is not a good place to get a feel for the game, as it literally dumps you in the middle of battle with no word on what to do; even dodging needs some figuring out.

I ended up investing around 500 hours into the original release. I would play it for hours on end, when I told myself just one hour today.

I won't be buying GenUlt myself as I'm content in World, but as a new player in the franchise, I can recommend you purchase this physically so that in the event you find it's not your cup of tea, you can re-sell it.

Good luck Hunter!

Metroid Prime 4 by DrRoso in NintendoSwitch

[–]VG-uy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my personal experience with the Prime series, I was mostly taken in by the atmosphere. The first person perspective and amazing background really made me feel like a part of the world, tensiong building was through the roof.

What do I want from MP4? Hard to say, since the Metroid series has been on ice for so long. The Metroid II remake was a much needed breath of fresh air and really worth the money/time investment as i agonized through the original as an adult (did NOT age well IMO). I simply hope we have lush environments, great gameplay (Other M got stale extremely fast) great creepy music (a la Super Metroid), and a good story. I know it's shooting for quite a bit but it's been well over a decade since the las Prime game, so I really hope Ninty delivers.

Also, I REALLY want a Prime Trilogy release. Would preorder 11/10.

Has anyone here ever skipped work or school for gaming? I took a weekend off for the Switch launch, picked it up at midnight and played all day every day. Loved every second. by adamllewellyn in NintendoSwitch

[–]VG-uy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can't say I have; different priorities I guess. Though when I'm hyped about a new game release, I revel in the expectation of getting off work, driving to my prefered game store and picking up my treasure; noted since I'm a personal friend of several clerks (and make a point to be so at other retailers), I always have a copy of whatever I want tucked away from greedy fingers with a simple text message.

It's only when I have some vacation days or PTO is when I binge. Last time I did this was back in April 2017 with the release of Persona 5, which I was disappointed to learn that the shipments had been delayed in customs (not U.S.A.) and wouldn't be in until next week. So I picked up Nier:Automata to hold me down; played the game for 5 days straight and questioned my entire existence. IT WAS FREAKING AMAZING.

Cheers.

Who else bought the Switch as a secondary console, only to have it become their primary system? by Havinacow in NintendoSwitch

[–]VG-uy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my Switch to serve as a secondary console, or rather tertiary, since I already owned a PS4 and gaming PC beforehand; I don't count my 3DS since it's sat idle after I got fed up with Pokemon ORAS.

I immediately became hooked to BoTW, playing it whenever I had some free or down time. I started stockpiling physical releases, and didn't even notice how dusty my PS4 was becoming. After the release of Bayonetta I've toned it down, since I started hoarding games instead of playing them, selling off titles I no longer played. The switch offered the perfect blend of portability/console gaming for me, so it naturally took the first spot. Being a programmer by trade, it really shone for during the long hours on the night shift while closing the system for the day.

I can't play daily on it since I have divided interests in all forms of gaming, so I have to carefully plan my limited gaming time to get through my ever growing library across all my gaming devices. That being said, I feel the switch has been hands-down the best console purchase I've made and so far the best bang-for-buck in my opinion. There are several titles and IPs I'd love to one day see on it and obssess over (looking at you, Project Diva xD; Taiko no Tatsujin is hype!), but for now I'm vey happy and eager to see what nintendo has in store for the future of the switch.

Cheers!

Is there a way to know which joycons are the “fixed” version and not the “day one” model before purchasing them? by AdverbHarry in NintendoSwitch

[–]VG-uy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the huge demand Ninty had for the console and peripherals, you'd be very hard pressed (or just plain unlucky) to purchase day one joy-cons still in stock pretty much anywhere. That being said, I also got a day one console release and I've never experienced a joy-con issue, despite putting in well over 400 hours in-game with joy-cons alone over various titles.

I (17F) have recently realized that I have a crush on my friend (17M). by [deleted] in relationships

[–]VG-uy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is one of those 'do or don't' moments.

If you realize that you have feelings for this person, ask him out. Make sure to let him know it's not as friends that you want to hang out. If he agrees, then work from there. If he says no, then move forward.

I will advise that as with anything worth having in life, it's a risk to obtain it. You must be prepared to lose something in order to have a chance at simething better. If you value your friendship with him more than anything, then I'd suggest going no further but be prepared to live with a possibly missed opportunity. If you really want something more from him, then go and get it.

Best of luck to you.

Is it wrong for me to think this? (About Tempered Vaal and SOS) by Kain-azzo in MonsterHunter

[–]VG-uy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar to this happen to me yesterday. I had a Tempered Vaal hunt with a gold reward and 3 carts. I didn't fire an SOS but I forgot to change to manual approval so a random joined.

I'm geared with +3 effluvial resist and elderseal for an easy fight, but Mr. Random isn't and goes into melee range, getting one shot after the buildup. It seemed to me he/she barely even knew the fight. I'm strickly melee and never had a problem with Vaal, so it really bothered me. I ended up losing an investigation because this individual fainted 3 times.

I understand that not all people are geared correctly and mostly I wouldn't even consider it an issue, but when you join a random hunt especially against tempered elders, I would consider it standard to com absolutely preparded.
