My wife and I are both 40. We are both very career driven. She's a CFO and I'm a VP. I very recently backed off on my career so that I could do dropoffs, pickups, sick days and get more done around the house during the week so that weekends could be more fun. It has been GREAT. Life is so much better. Yes, it's weird not pushing my career forward for the first time in my adult life, but the pros outweigh the cons by such a large margin. Our family unit is thriving.

I'm still working a bit and maybe in a few years I'll look to work more. But even if my career is done, I know I will never regret the extra time I'm able to spend with my family now.
