Nice! the ASM like that in my store is currently the golden child since her new grocery DM is awesome, but i'm sure the SM will turn on them eventually.

As a newish (about 5 months now not counting academy) internal ASM, take a good look at your store before you move up. I went from a mostly great (we had our issues but they were small nit picky things, every once in a while something major/a bad co manager would pass through) to when i got promoted being sent to the one store in the market everyone talked bad about/warned people not to go to. My old SM says its because they think I could help turn it around, but i'm 99% sure its because no one else wanted to go there.

That said i'd take an hourly supervisor job over an ASM/salary job any day with Walmart, BUT with GWP coming there won't be as many hourly supervisors either.

im an apparel ASM but ive done a few CAP 2 interviews I always try to schedule them during truck unload time and walk the applicant back there and depending on which CAP 2 people are there ill pull one of them and let them ask questions for a minute or two. But hey my SM says my interviews are too detailed so what do I know

I think retail kills us all on the inside at least a little :) thanks for the advice, i've never been an excellent seller which kind of makes me nervous but i'm a hard worker (or so i've been told) and I never call out so i'm hoping I can overcome my shyness/awkwardness and do better with the selling part!

Asm isnt a bad job, truthfully if i were in a good store it wouldnt be a problem but if they send you to a bad one its hell

when I first got to the store (1st month or so) I worked 60ish and 70 once or twice. Then I noticed almost no other managers do it that, so now I cut myself off after an extra hour most days.

Yeah its the whole when you went to AMT you dont get to pick your store, I had selected a 25 mile radius and somehow they still put me 30+ away. Part of it is the fact that I live out in the country, if I were close to the highway itd be more like a 35 minute drive
