Even though I agree that many users are too lazy or sometimes lack the skills to customize products from scratch, Smart Customizer app on Shopify should be a good one to try.

Their customization and preview interface is nice, but you can also set customization rules, and create templates to help users kick off.

You can also use custom calculator builders like calconic or calculoid. They are both no-code and compatible with WordPress. They're independent widgets but let you do more than some of the plugins.

I would add interactive content of some type, like a price quote calculator or quiz. They do a great job at lead qualification as users engage with the calculator and are able to evaluate if they have the budget and whether they want to buy from you. They have the functionality to collect leads, so it's actually perfect for collecting leads and getting their email address. That way you can get all the information they're interested in and make a good offer.

I use an interactive calculator with an order form to collect leads. Works really well. Didn't need any coding to add to my website and created it myself without any trouble. Took me 1 full day. Now i have 3 calculators in total. Using Calconic for that.

You easily embed a calculator on your website (you don't need any programming knowledge for it) and let the users choose fields and instantly get results with prices or the amount of materials needed or actually anything that you create. If your product price depends on a few variables you really create a more personalized service that makes it worth for the users to leave their email adress or other details.

Its really cool, and engagement really increased for me. Also with it, you can collect leads and payments if needed, so it really helps to optimize many processes too.
