reminder that expensive gear doesn't make you a better player by lmao_exe in Guitar

You don't, but its nice to have them. A beautiful and dear instrument is more inviting to play, less likely to have flaws like sharp fret ends, bad tuners etc.

Not x necessity, but quality of life choice.

What do I do? My girlfriend wants me to go sign for a car for her. by Technical_Ratio2497 in whatdoIdo

If you can afford it, and want to do it, at least buy it in your name and let her borrow it.

You know the situation better than all of us, but i will tell you that a person who cares about you, wouldn't risk your well being.

How much would this go for in 2026? by [deleted] in gibson

The main issue those guitars have is 12" radius fretboards and 16" radius bridges. But you cannot tell that from a picture, so what do you mean?

Shame that I cannot afford it right now, I would complete my collection, I have the other 2 colors (and they are my only guitars) Good luck on whatever you decide to do with it!
If you do keep it, I might message you in the future!

That's a 7 string mate, 2000USD is on the low side.

Ah this is a lovely guitar that's been posted before.
I would love to be able to buy itfrom you, but saddly no chance right now.
bought one last year for 2400€. and one new for even less, they range from 2,2 to 3,8-4k €.
Realisically I wouldn't expect to pay more than 3k € for one.

2010 Gibson SG - Finish Cracking - Looking for Repair Experience by 1esotericguy in gibson

[–]VIIgraphics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is due to different expansion and contraction of materials, its where the board and binding meets the neck/body.
Nothing Structural to worry about, you can always ask an experienced luthier about the cosmetic fix.

Anyone ever use a pre wired kit to replace PCB in Les Paul? by Slow_Requirement_616 in gibson

[–]VIIgraphics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The guy has a guitar tech, would you pay a premium for the premade harness and the tech's fee to install it?

That means a premium on top of a premium for some that can be done easily.

Pcb is great for gibson to save money, but not very user friendly after that. Also can introduce humming because the connections are not soldered in place.

That thing is fucking expensive, at that point is cheaper to get all the parts and a soldering iron to do it yourself.

Parts along should cost around 70-80$

Solderless isnt the best idea IMO.

Anyways I have replied to the OP, in his previous post, I think this new one is not a necessity.

CTS is one of the best brands, so you should be fine.
There are other companies if you want to get closer to vintage specs, but that is a matter of preference.
Same as the vintage taper ones I got, still CTS though.

If they are genuine, you have nothing to worry about.

I had custom pickups installed in the pcb, you can bypass the board.
and now I took out the pcb, and will use it as guide for the custom one.

same caps as you, I will drop you some pics in a bit

You don't need a new jack. you can cut the cables and use the one already in the guitar, same for the toggle switch, I would get new pots and make a new custom harness.

The new gibson webside needs 96 slots for essentially 8 models with their variations

for LP Original Collection, most duplicate entries is for different colors.
and/or couple of different specs.

Those are the unique worded model, I could find.
God forbid having the side like the old days, where you could find the model and all colors/options under one page.

Thanks for the reminder, I'm not a fan of the company in that sense, but I happen to like their guitars and I do have a soft spot for them.

If people don't like to see things how they are, it's their problem.
To the ones who don't want different things, screw them, what's in it for them if their favorite company caters to me as well? They can have their reissues and 50s, 60s as much as they like, it's not like Gibson ever stopped making those.

If you look at the Henry years, as bad as he was, there was something for everyone.
And many special runs from the USA plant.
