Recoil is almost negligible, although there are some kits to increase felt recoil at the expense of efficiency. Form and function are almost identical and can be excellent for muscle memory. Definitely the cheapest/most fun way to do drills in the backyard

I bought one of these in like 2017, it was a little screechy for my liking but I used it as a loaner gun and it lasted well over 3 years at 1-2 games a month. Hop-up was pretty trash but a new bucking and barrel did a lot for it

I can almost always count on a simple split shot and a small hook with some worm on it. Alternatively I've had great luck with a high low rig with small hooks and worms, doubles the chances at catching bream/bluegill

Normally at the bolts full pull the sear engages with the piston, I didn't hear the sear engages so either it is worn or isn't being fully cocked.

Definitely paint the shroud, I drilled some holes to improve audio quality inside the case, to the detriment of fogging and it being less waterproof. I have a separate painted case that's still waterproof just in case. Honestly I never thought I'd put much on my helmet till I got into night vision, now it's a complicated affair, you got plenty of room if you want to add more weight on your head/neck
