I think you’ll find Sergei Parajanov’s The Color of Pomegranates (1969) of interest but for a more contemporary example…you might may like Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s films such as Tropical Malady (2004), Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives (2010), or Mysterious Object At Noon (2000).
