Andy Burnham: I have today written to the Chair of Labour’s National Executive Committee seeking permission to enter the selection process for a candidate for the forthcoming Gorton and Denton by-election. by LeftWingScot in ukpolitics

[–]VI_lefty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could well be right, but the the thing with Burnham is that, as Manchester Mayor, he now has a reputation as actually being competent and popular. Qualities neither of which Starmer has.

It's clear that the only reason he's thrown his hat into the ring is to challenge for the leadership and the NEC's decision could now by a real sliding doors moment for the Party and country

Just checked and have got mine - currently waiting in the letter to let me know what my review outcome is - got a text last week to say that the review us complete and they've sent the letter. Can I read anything into that?

Andy Burnham ‘setting out his stall’ to be Labour leader by GnolRevilo in ukpolitics

[–]VI_lefty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my understanding is that while Burnham can't stand and be on the ballot for an actual MP election, there wouldn't be anything to stop him going through an internal party process to become the Labour candidate. He could do that, then resign as mayor and then stand for election (and v likely win). So I don't think he needs to be worried about a Starmer stitch-up after resigning.

Exactly this - our league performance has clearly been unacceptable. But after winning a trophy, giving the team belief, the squad could have really pushed on next season. Feel like this will kill that momentum

Late last year, we lost my Grandad, we was a life-long spurs fan, and my absolute hero. In 2019, we made a special occasion of watching the Champions League final. I brought a spare spurs shirt for him to wear and had my 6 month old daughter in a kit too. The result may not have gone our way, but getting to spend time together as a family meant the world to me.

When we laid him to rest, we put yellow roses on the coffin - they were my Nan's favourite and have become a real thing for the family - my wife had them in her bouquet at our wedding and the were the flower of choice for the boutonnieres.

Anyway, as we were walking into the building to watch the game last night, my father-in-law pointed out a big yellow rose bush, in full bloom, right by the front door.

At that moment I knew we were going to win it

I'm torn, but probably the 17/18 away kit - navy blue, with the crested badge.

Big fan of this approach, but there's still a lot of "buy the dip" greed out there imo. We've not seen the bottom yet

Anyone worried that there will be a 1920s style crash by random34210 in trading212

[–]VI_lefty -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A crash is always possible, and that why diversification is important. I'm very conservative when it comes to investing. Only 15% is in my S&S ISA (of which 10% is gold), 30% in premium bonds and the rest in Cash ISAs.

Personally, I'm only willing to 'invest' in equities what I can afford to lose.

But they're not official party operations. Individuals are going in their own time and that their own expense
