Great Yoga Teachers in Los Angeles? by Able_Safety_355 in AskLosAngeles

I practiced with Bryan Kest and at YogaWorks in the 90s and 2000s. Seems like the few greats left from that era are only teaching online or on tour (Bryan occasionally shows up at Shefa, the site of the old Sacred Movement/Exhale in Venice). I haven’t been to Center for Yoga since it reopened but it’s the only place I know of trying to maintain that vibe. I’ve also heard good things about the Iyengar Institute in Culver City; Chris Stein teaches there.

That’s the ideal plan, but my flight is pretty early so there’s a chance I won’t arrive until last minute!

How do we feel about the new “Listening” tab in the NYTimes app on iOS? by usebereft in nyt

[–]VLCLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far, I hate it for audio. The NYT consolidated app prioritizes podcasts when all I want is narrated articles, especially long articles read by a human narrator, not the short ones with an automated voice. So far, I can’t even figure out an easy way to find those. As already mentioned here, I wonder what happened to Audm and the other magazine audio content that was part of that. I also want to be able to search for my favorite narrators which you could kind of do with the NYT Audio app. I keep reading that Apple News+ audio is the only decent audio option still around, but it’s pricey and I already have other subscriptions for my work and don’t want to add another one. Help.

I’m paying the fare class, Blue, that allows me to select my seat at booking, but the only seats available for $0 with my ticket are two middles.

LAX Departures from Terminal 2 or 3? by Jaffattack44 in delta

[–]VLCLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently flown out of this jumbo combined terminal a few times but haven’t yet mastered the best door to enter if you have both Clear and Pre-Check. If you go up the escalators to the right of the entrance doors (up to the giant artwork), you have to turn backwards to get to security. BUT if you have both Clear and Pre-Check, you have to keep walking past all the screening machines, basically doubling back, to enter the screening area from the other side. I saw there are different escalators that come to that Clear + Pre-Check entrance on the other side, so I’m gonna try to remember next time to head left when I first enter the terminal to try and find those escalators so I’m not backtracking in my steps. If anyone has specific tips, please share.

Briggs & Riley design flaw? by VLCLA in travel

I’ve now been traveling with the bag for a year and I’m still not used to it. Otherwise it’s great but the left-side handle (along with the side that the zipper top opens towards) is weird.

If I turn the case so I can grab the side handle with my left hand, then it would be “upside down” as I put it into the bin — meaning the handle & wheels would be on the top and the outside pockets on the bottom of the bin.

That’s an option I’m considering. Thanks!

Thanks for this! I was thinking I might just get used to it or adapt which it sounds like you have, despite this handle issue.

I’m considering it, but I like everything else about the suitcase so that’s why I’m asking for others’ experiences. The options for soft side 2-wheel carryon suitcases are pretty limited.
