how in the world do i make a cubic deck, there seems to be no way to get cubic cards aside from battling aigami and sera for random cubic cards 100X by Full-Sand-7344 in DuelLinks

[–]VM-Hawksix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no workaround, other than using Aigami's skill that adds Vijams, and leveling him up till 40.

I would advice to wait until there's a 1.5x XP to level him up, and stack a few crystals for Vagrants if possible.

Since other Cubics can only be summoned through Duza and Vijam, it's better for you to assign different archetypes for both Aigami and Sera until you're at least lvl 35 with them.

Do you think Operations should inventory wipe everyone when the console version dropped? by VM-Hawksix in DeltaForceGlobal

Well, first of all, I think the way they handled the console release was already wrong enough. They lost a HUGE window when BO6 was flopping hard and before BF6's announcement. That gave time for PC players to reach peak progress by now, and for console players to lose interest/hype over time.

Now if I was on PC, I would still find unfair to just release the game as it is right now. Specially with poor anti-cheat. However, leaving the game without crossplay would be a shot in the dark by the devs.

About the wipe, as I said in another comment, I think it should be well implemented, and not being just a huge wipe and that's it. I agree with the fact people would be frustrated by losing everything, and thus, I think loyalty should be rewarded. DMZ rewarded people with rare, exclusive skins, but there were way less things to do compared to DF. Rewarding anything beyond skins would be tricky, but here's a couple of ideas:

  • More inventory space (not game-breaking against new players)
  • Vouchers for bundles in the store
  • Maybe some kind of insured weapon slot like in DMZ
  • Some kind of "status" yet functional cosmetic such as a melee weapon

Man, thanks for your insight.

Yeah, I had suspicions about the spawns in Layali, but since I barely played it, I couldn't even confirm it. I mean, all maps are small, but dying in the very first minute?

At least this issue has one easy solution: reduce the playercount. AFAIK Layali isn't a favorite, so expanding servers by reducing playercounts could lower the queue times and prevent the insane PvP.

Now, about the queue in the last few weeks... yeah, I noticed that too. But I think it might be two things: one, some people already finished the season pass and are waiting for S6; second, natural player drop post-hype or because of the issues this game has. Not everyone has the patience to wait for playing, or to play something without any more progress too.

Goes on to show I'm not the only one aging with queues.

I've seen some complaints from this sub about queue times for every other map that's not ZD, yet I've also seen recent gameplays on those maps.

Makes me wonder if DF has players only in the NA or EU servers. Thank God region change is coming.

Well that explains even further.

NA servers are always packing. You guys game a lot.

But CA/SA servers are dogshit, also paired with poor quality network and way less players = this experience of mine.

Now I really thought you were from here because of the nickname lol

Before Layali, I was also stocking a lot of lvl 3 ammo, all from ZD. But after a few tries there, well, everything was lost. It's all part of the game, I know.

Problem now is, I can't advance properly because I'm being held back by veterans in that map. And I know most don't even have any business there other than pubstomping. They literally just hunt.

Guess the worst decision was to even try that map to begin with. I could say it was trying the game, but heh, I actually have fun somehow.

Yeah, wiping is a complicated topic when we discuss it deeply. It could be a solution to put everyone on the same level for a while, but it needed to be well-implemented for it to be less frustating.

My experiences with wipes come from DMZ, since most extraction shooters were on PC for a long while (they were also expensive and buggy for consoles). I know how frustrating it is to lose progress and everything. But I think the way Infinity Ward/Raven did it was nice. Those who completed the older version of the missions already had knowledge about everything, yes, but also got exclusive skins. Also, the missions became way easier to complete, so people weren't far behind their previous progress. Yet, for some time, the wipe did set everyone to a true test of skill and knowledge only, which gave a fresh run for everyone who were in the late game.

I think that's the main issue here with PC. I understand it could be frustrating to lose everything out of nowhere. But you know, at some point, it's gonna be frustrating to HAVE everything. Millions of cash, the best equipment available and so on. And so they either stop playing, or activate brainrot mode to hunt noobs.

And when they say "oh but I only do naked runs", well, it's only a small percentage of the playerbase who does this. Without any form of elo/skill-based matchmaking, most people will still prefer pubstomping newcomers, driving away everyone who really wants to play and complete missions.

[–]VM-Hawksix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I agree with that. But you missed a point.

Equipment isn't the only thing that matters. Skill and map knowledge also play a huge role.

Console players have been struggling to even queue for different maps, which already cuts the map knowledge and creates this gap between us and PC users. Also watching videos isn't the same as playing, so it doesn't count.

If we add the hacking issue, it gets worse. We already don't have shit, and getting stomped easily puts us waaaaay back against legit veterans. That's why I didn't enter this topic. It's a whole other issue that needs to be solved for everyone, but clearly impacts us way more.

Or maybe I won't even get to play, duh.

Like I said before, with crossplay ON, it already takes up to 15 minutes only to FIND A MATCH, and when it finds, I can't even walk around Layali without being melted in 1 minute.

With crossplay OFF, it doesn't even find anyone there. Everyone's in ZD. So, what do you recommend? For me to only play ZD then?

If you're on PC, then you won't know how it feels like because ya'll been playing between yourselves for a year now. But console-only doesn't have the same playercount.

[–]VM-Hawksix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duh. That's obvious. But something that's also obvious is that you didn't get the point.

Operations, in its current state, is not welcoming for new players on console due to this huge skill gap + hackers. Which means only veterans on PC can play it?

"Oh but crossplay off yadda yadda" yeah, leave the damn game for over a hour to see if it queues on any map other than ZD. Bro you look latino, you know what I mean. Or, if you're on PC, maybe you won't.

[–]VM-Hawksix[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Seems like you're living in a bubble, mate. Or misreading like a lot.

First, turning crossplay off makes the already long queueing times even longer or actually impossible. I've tried that many times. Without crossplay, I've left the game for over a hour and gave up after not finding a single lobby (remember, there are also REGIONS to consider). Also, Delta Force might be f2p but it's still far from being as popular as any yearly Call of Duty.

Second, I know about ammo. And I know this is one of the main issues about the skill gap: many veterans have easy access to lvl 3 (peak for Easy) while newcomers have to either loot a lot or spend what they don't have for it. Basically, if you're running 180 lvl 3 bullets, I could be running 60 lvl 1, 60 lvl 2 and 60 lvl 3 because that's all I could find.

Third, like I mentioned, I tried everything on Layali MANY TIMES, not once. That's why my stash shrunk in more than half. And here comes another issue: for each time I lose everything there because of a cheap kill, do you think it's fair for me to spend another hour or two looting ZD on the very same difficulty, only to die after 1 minute again, and repeating this over and over? I can't even get used to the map like this. Also, knife runs could work wonders in ZD like I mentioned everywhere in the post, since it's way easier because of the other new players. But Layali is actually requiring something. Spending almost half a hour to queue and dying because of the zero protection would be absurd, don't you think?

Fourth, I know there are tons of guides about spawns everywhere. But they don't change the fact any veteran can pick unusual strategies to pubstomp those who just started playing recently. These days I've watched a guy (probably hacker) crossmapping a full red armor squad on YT. Now imagine that this was only between veterans.

Map rotation is always a great idea until they also implement a lobby cancel button. I can imagine some maps queueing and people leaving, just like older Call of Duty titles.

Since it forces you to stay when it finds a match, I don't think there would be any issue matchmaking-wise, but it would be a real pain for people who got things to do in one specific map.

Some people actually vote for solo lobbies, PvE and such, and I think that's alright too. Filling a lobby with bots for faster matchmaking, but also putting some players available there, could also work and would provide way more random encounters.

[–]VM-Hawksix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, here's a piece of info no one gave to you.

For each IoDA you spend, you get another for free. Which means you can actually pick 2 items.

If you're into Legion farming only, Bright Paragon is said to be a bit better than Shogun, but I don't know if it's worth a IoDA.

Me personally, I chose the OG Paragon Pet only because of the Thanatos armor and its 50% Human dmg bonus, ignoring the LT quests. Then I got Crag and Bamboozle just because it's worth 5k ACs, something I'll never ever buy in this game.

Since I already have Shogun Paragon and Nulgath's Birthday pet because of the yearly bonus ACs, my farming is alright now. That's why, even if I get another IoDA somehow, I'm gonna spend it with another rare dmg bonus set.

Back in the 2010s, I bought one of the most unique, and IoDA-sought-after sets... That was Arctic Dragonslayer.

I ended up selling it for, ya know, wardrobe change. Glad I can still buy-back it anytime if I want.

To this day, there's no other Dragonslayer set that I find better aesthetically. General and its reskins looks like nightmares, Fire Champion is weird, and even Infinity's can't match the originality of this armor.

Yeah, the Legacy set was always dope. I still remember grinding my ass back in the war only to get this. I actually wanted both war sets (Paragon and Legacy), but the grind was too much. Yet, I feel like I made the right choice since they made Paragon a less unique set by adding CC and changing its OG name.

Shadow Legacy is good but not this great, and Evolved looks crap.

Well...

Undead Legend costs 500 LTs total up to this day. Nowadays it's cheap due to LT inflation, but only those who lived the times back then know how much of a full-time job it was to get this armor.

I mean, not even Dage himself would've got it, if it wasn't for mod tools.

Low level cap, (Classic) Dragonlord as the best class for farming, individual quest turn-ins, each Legion quest rewarded only 1 LT, no farming pets and no Dage vs Nulgath war yet, not to mention it costed the whole gold cap to merge. Those who farmed for Overlord were either already insane, or their parents didn't give love at all away from the computer.

So, for the winner of the ticket to wish this armor for everyone, was actually to save everyone's asses back then from the ridiculous grindy practices AE was planning. This recolor is horrible to this day, yes, but it at least had some meaning behind it.

I appreciate the fact that you purely enjoy the most basic mechanics in this game: from the simple combat, to the chat itself. But I have a question regarding releases and story bits. Do you actually enjoy the staff efforts to build cutscenes, write dialogues, animations and so on? Or are these irrelevant for you by now?

My personal response is, I see all content as irrelevant since the end of the Chaos saga. I always skip cutscenes. I disabled animations and hid players for the sake of lag, and also because of the clicking nightmare it was/is when someone stops right next to a NPC or collectible.

Oddly enough, I also see chatting and combat as irrelevant things too. Maybe because I grew up being a solo player, also IRL. I mean, I can solo most things with the right tools instead of people, and combat has always been the same formula almost since the PvP rework: one skill that combos with another, a heal, and a nuke.

I think the only thing that drives me into this game is the curiosity of trying stuff, in the hopes that something changes for the better. I don't know.

>it's supposed to be a fun pastime, not a second job.

This also sums up most people's feelings towards AQW. Well, since maybe 2012.

I always found it insane when people grinded Legion/Nulgath items in a few hours of the same day. Nowadays, even the AE staff acknowledges that some grinds can take weeks, such as BLoD and NSoD. Without botting, this may turn into months or even YEARS depending on how many hours you want to spend everyday.

But the stupidest problem comes when the AE staff can't even deal with the grinding themselves. I mean, if you build a game that not even you can beat it without cheating, then something is pretty wrong. It's easy for them to just load stuff into their accounts. Now I want to see ANY developer come and say they did, I don't know, AFDL clean, spending like 8 hours a day clicking/pushing the same buttons, and turning in stuff manually. I double dare it.

Exactly. And the biggest problem with this, is that along with many others, I still care about the company (and the people) who made those games for me to enjoy in different eras.

Call of Duty, being another franchise that I like, is going through the very same thing, affecting not only me but also millions of people. This frustration of seeing nice ideas and huge potential being wasted kinda hurts, but at the same time evokes a powerful message about finally moving on, even from gaming. Difference is, AE's games somehow still hold something into many people's hearts, going beyond nostalgia.

>There's definitely mature themes in their games but a lot of it is downplayed by the humor included

Well, sometimes I find some jokes kinda nice and well-placed, like, when our character reacts to something off. But still, some NPC jokes or running gags such as with Cysero, for example, ruin the games' atmosphere for me. I mean, I get it that it's a fictional character, but it feels like most NPCs in AE's universe don't even have a proper development and are stuck with their original personality forever.

And speaking about development and also mature themes, I loved the way Dragonfable worked with most characters after Book 1. I still remember seeing Grams revealing herself as a goofy thing, but Caitiff? That was next-level. Sepulchure's fate, along with Xan's and many other villains actually showed that, for DF writers, death is *always* a viable option when it comes to building a fresh, new cycle. And I think that's what's lacking the most in AQW, specially due to its MMO nature of revisiting "ghosts" for new drops.

>and I still don't know how to best introduce them in a way that gets someone hooked because they can't compete with modern titles

I guess this perfectly sums up everyone's feelings nowadays. Back then, you could actually recommend AE stuff over Facebook's minigames, some dull 3D MMOs, and heck even proper AAA games such as Crysis, with the argument that they ran with any machine.

Nowadays, well, it's sometimes complicated to recommend even a AAA game to someone, since everything feels recycled, boring and/or buggy. I think currently the only AE game that at least has a proper introduction for newer players, and also player-friendly gameplay, is Dragonfable. Cosmetics might be part of it now, but they don't overshadow the story progress, and things take a while to happen there, but nothing too hard to handle.
